it's the gosh damned 60s in the US. Textually, the marginalization of mutants parallels trials of the time it was written: the Civil Rights struggles, gay lib, and the witch hunts of the Red Scare, not to mention the gaping wound of the Holocaust. These are only some. I feel like this movie only scratched the surface of one of these, but with the characters assembled, it could go much further. So please, please please someone, either write me a story in which this is tackled (assuming that the ending of the movie doesn't happen and Charles and Erik are together longer because it's just too lame if they're separated that early on, and that Darwin is alive gosh damnit), or point me towards one that is already? it could be epic in length.
