The girls hook up for a little comfort/just-for-fun sex, decide they like it, and keep doing it, eventually adding in some experimentation with abilities. Which includes Raven trying out a male body at some point.

And it doesn't occur to either of them to use protection.

Que panic when they finally realize that Angel's knocked up. Que also extremely awkward explanations to the rest of the group about how Raven's the father (oh god the confusion!) Where it goes from there regarding the pregnancy and their relationship is up to anon.

Can be set before or after "the divorce" between Erik and Charles.

Dude, yes. After all, Mystique *was* supposed to be Nightcrawler's dad. Damn Comics Code.

I may be wrong but I thought in the most recent Nightcrawler back story it was Azazel who was his father and that is how he gets his trans-dimensional teleportation abilities and most of his physical mutations from.
In fact I don't think there was ever a storyline of his where Mystique and Destiny were his biological parents but I think there was one where they raised him together. The person who posted that on Wikipedia probably just got their facts a little messed up.

Original commenter here. I never meant to imply that it was something that had happened on canon, merely that it had been the original intent of one of mystique's creators but was cockblocked by the attitudes of the time. And yes, wiki is hardly the most reliable of sources, but it's mentioned in several different articles, all of which cite sources, which in turn reference interviews with chris Claremont.

So yes, it may not be true, but if so, it's a pretty pervasive rumour.
