Erik was right after all. The government begins openly persecuting and exterminating the mutants. After Charles loses everything he ever loved, he realises that Erik was right all along and joins him. Bonus points for angry, hurting Charles mindfucking people so sadistically that he scares even Erik sometimes.

it's not... quite the prompt, as charles isn't losing people, but he does lose quite a bit. which is probably going to be more apparent in later parts oieqewnr
i.He’s not sure how they’re found. Just that they are. He knows Moira couldn’t have done it, the mental blocks were too strong. The government has been looking for them ever since Cuba, and while the Institute is out of the way, it would have been fairly easy for someone to catch a snapshot of someone while shopping in the city, or being somewhere other than the grounds

It’s Hank's large, warm hand on his shoulder that helps him sit up. It’s a furry body that produces too much heat that he leans into ever so slightly as Alex retrieves his chair

Late that night, so late it’s technically morning, Erik walks through the halls of the small house in Venezuela they’re staying in for the moment. It’s unnerving, to have gone there and to have seen the people he had come to care for, and a few new faces, so tired and worn. It brought back unpleasant memories and the familiar feeling of his anger that always simmered beneath the surface was only just held back as they moved everyone and got them settled.
Charles was unexpectedly quiet the entire time, with the exception of a few smiles and reassuring words for the children. Erik could only guess at what had happened in the fight, but it was obvious who had taken down the humans in the end.
“They can’t stay here,” Erik says quietly as he looks at Charles, sitting carefully in a wheelchair - a wheelchair - and looking morosely out the window. Everything about what Erik’s seeing is so very, very wrong
