James wants nothing more than to stop his ears right now. Wants to cover them with his hands to block out the noise, stuff them with wax, destroy his eardrums so he never has to hear another thing but his own thoughts ever again.
But that’s not how this works. The sounds skip his ears entirely and go straight for his brain, gnawing and scurrying like mice and rats and a herd of elephants all at once. He cannot form a coherent thought. He cannot piece together just what the fuck is going on and keeps on walking, instantly shying away from people and running from crowds into streets and alleys and it does not stop.
It doesn’t stop.
James’ face is wet when he hunkers down into a corner. He has no idea where he is what he is who he is why he is ( ... )

Btw, are you going to repost this to your journal when you're done? It's currently a little difficult to keep skipping between the two different fills...
