Lady Lailis. Is the Sultan in good health and spirits? Perhaps your stories could catch his interest.

You know that the empire needs an heir, my lady. It is of the utmost importance. His brother is dangerous. And the rumors surrounding his ascendancy are ever present in the populace.
Lucien! Of course I've been tempted. But I thought that the heir would have to be born from my First Wife. You know I can't abide her--an arranged, political marriage is the surest way to kill any romantic feelings at all.
You're more than welcome to join us out here, you know.
Ah. And here I thought you never paid attention to your tutors on politics
Private to the Sultan Hargreaves Yes, that is true, Your Majesty. However, You are the Sultan. True, she is First Wife and you are required to bed her, but there are... secret preventative measures to prevent the conception, aren't there?
Then you can say that you have done your duty to her. It is only a matter of time and choice as to who amongst your wives you want to bear your heir.
[ooc: ... I can't believe Lucien just said that... *facepalm*]

You give me so little credit, Lucien.
Oh, I know, I know. And there are certainly women here I find very enticing. But it's the chase, the hunt, that's far more enjoyable than the kill, you understand.
...perhaps you don't.

Yes, to my fault.
There was a time that I might have wholly agreed with you, Your Majesty. Mm... No, I agree with that, but usurpers and traitors lurk in the shadows of this palace and beyond. And heir would assure the empire that your rule is set and would continue on for generations to come. We can not let them take advantage of Your Majesty being heir-less and besieged with rumors. Your brother being one of the threats...
Your rule of the empire is not perfect, Your Majesty. But neither is it weak. You are still young, and they say experience is the best tutor of them all. I am only here to guide your hand in the choices you make for this empire, as I swore to your grandfather I would do.
Ah, Lady Hinamori. If you would please so. The Sultan is right, your exotic tea is something of a treat to drink. Definitely different from the teas of our empire.
I beg your pardon, sir. I am no librarian. I am the Grand Vizier to His Majesty, the Sultan, Padishah Cain Hargreaves.
And one must know of these matters if one is to guide the Sultan in all aspects of the kingdom. Including the matters of wives and concubines.
... this "dress", as you call it, is woven from the gold threads that came all the way from the merchants of China, trekking the Silk Road. And these have pants under them
A day? I do say, sir. I have been Vizier long before the current Sultan was born!
Clearly you are not of this empire. Your garb is much alien to me as the garb of those who stream in and out of the palace from distant lands.
Tell me, where do you come from? And surely the dark orbs in front of your eyes are not spectacles? They certainly defeat the purpose
[ooc: okay, i have no idea when glasses were invented or if they existed at all in ancient turkey. but Lucien has glasses on, so let's just go with that? XDDD]
I did not mean it as you think. Only stating that... well, the Goddess Bast is most revered in your country. It would not be alien to you, therefore, if perhaps one of your pharoahs or queens be descended from the race of cats. Indeed, it might be even considered a good sign for your kingdom?
I am glad that I have not caused any misunderstanding because of my view.

Indeed. Though I offer no insult to her and her countrymen. Their ways are of course different to ours. And the Sultan himself has expressed no desire to conceive an heir through her.

I have heard tales telling the dangers his brother presents, as well as the rumors of how he gained his title.
... Perhaps I?

... would be the one to mother the next heir to the throne? would be the one to talk to him about it? or help him choose the most suitable one?

And how is life in the Sultan's harem?

I have no complaints. My master is a kind one, and I find myself content to serve him as he needs me.

Mm, I am sure the Sultan would be overjoyed to hear that from you, my lady. Would you be the one lucky enough to catch his eye tonight?

Now I've seen everything.
Nice dress.

And no matter how rich the make or the description, a skirt is still a skirt.
