Chapter 28

Dec 23, 2007 23:03

Ah. Tempus Fugit. The snow has made me retreat to the warmth of the fireplace in my quarters more often. That is why I have not been seen in the library often. Forgive me if I was uncommunicative for the past few weeks. I believe there was someone who wanted a position in the library ( Read more... )

the solitary librarian.

That sounds wonderful, milady. Did you have any help, or did you make it all by yourself?

Excellent. And with this weather, it will probably stay there for a while.

I hope you have been well, milady. As well as with your brothers and sisters here.

So what you're saying is you'd like some thermals for christmas, Lucien.

Mm. Uh, newer and thicker ones, perhaps.

How are you faring in this weather, Miss Walker?

I like it, for the most part. A person can always wrap up warmer, but there's only so much you can take off, you know?

It must be nice to have a real open fire.

True. Even in the privacy of your own home.

It is, but then again, there is soot everywhere, I sneeze every so often there is a draft, and it is an absolute must that you clean the chimney every now and then. But otherwise... yes, it is charming. Perhaps you could have one built in your apartment? Will it be possible?

I admit I had wondered where you were, but I understand perfectly. It's bitter cold and, if the library here is like most libraries I've known, there are probably more than a few drafts and chilly hallways.

Still, I'm glad to know you're well.

Ah, please do forgive me Cain. I... bury myself between the pages of books too much, I guess, to properly socialize and everything...

One gets used to the drafts, but... well, there is only so much one can take of the cold.

And you, Cain? How are you?

[ooc: You! *glomps* Miss you! How are you?]

I completely understand, believe me. I live in the Opera House, after all. I'm beginning to think there are different sorts of coldness.

I'm well enough--chagrined, perhaps, after my tirade about Christmas yesterday. But on the other hand it was a relief to be able to say a number of those things. Merry and I are looking forward to Christmas.

[ooc: ♥!! Miss you too! I'm okay--working a retail job for the holidays...it eats up a lot of my time ;_;]

Ah yes, such a humongous structure, that is. The drafts must be abysmal.

Ah, that. Well, you have Miss Merry with you. All will turn out well.

... and it seems I have missed your birthday. Oh dear...

Your absence has been entirely understandable, given exactly how cold it has been as of late. I do not believe I will ever come to appreciate such weather entirely... I have found myself similarly keeping to warmer quarters...

This weather isn't really suitable for old bones such as myself.

That is good to know. How have you been, Ptolemy? I must confess, I haven't been perusing the network much as well.

Nor myself.

I have been well, on the whole. The approaching Christmas holiday intrigues me; I have been making casual study of it. I hope you have been well yourself.

Ah, yes. Christmas is usually met here with food, presents and generally a whole lot of cheer. I hope you and your friends are planning quite a feast on the night of the 24th.

I am faring okay, as well. Nothing a warm fire, a few books and a cup of tea cannot cure.

You always did prefer the warmth to the cold, Lucien.

Milord.

Unfortunately, the city's library isn't as well warmed like your library.

Perhaps we should change that. You are most dedicated to your work there, and thus deserving of it.
