Okay, so the paid time+icons on this journal are about to expire, and there's no way I can afford to pay for upkeep on that in two places. I've pretty much settled in on Dreamwidth, and you can find me there under the same username. If anyone who RPs with Connor is not making the move, and wants to RP with him here, I'm still willing, but you will ( Read more... )

I have created a couple of backup journals for a handful of my characters, and Clark's one of them, though I haven't gotten around to importing anything for him yet (mostly because of not wanting to lose icon choices since he has way more than on DW, since I'm not paid yet). Same name as here, just subscribed/gave access to Connor's, so that's me. I'm still staying primarily on LJ for now, but I am willing to thread on DW also, especially for sake of the migraine issue. I haven't quite figured out how to set up email notifications on DW just yet, but I can still be PMed on LJ for threading on either.

Is there a Nexus equivalent on DW yet, or are you mostly doing just-with-friends RPing?

Import is awesome, but yeah, icons are an issue. Frankly, I always wanted more icon space no matter where I am, so that's just me... I never played with eml notifications and I seem to be getting them for DW threads just the same as I always did LJ threads.

Dear_multiverse itself is not there, or at least not officially, but there is a multiverse_nexus you'll see on Connor's profile page that's basically the same thing albeit with different mods. It's created to be the same Nexus as here, although it doesn't seem quite as active yet.

I've also been getting in contact with RP people on plurk, and a lot of times if you say post in multiverse_nexus, then post a link to that on plurk with lots of RP-type people as friends, it gets more replies... There's also Bakerstreet which is for memes but playing there with closer RP buddies has helped inspire continuity, plotty threads. You may not see a lot of Connor stuff because I've been on a kick with another muse, but there's lots of the same people over there.

My only problem with the email notifs is when I was importing things for my other journals, it said that a notification would appear in my inbox, so I assumed it would email too (which it never did). So maybe it's just an importing thing.

Cool, good to know. I've got enough roots here that it'll be hard to pull away, but having a community to start building from is a good start too. Otherwise I wouldn't know what to do with myself on DW, really. I'll check it out and see what my fellow RPers think, if they're moving or doubling up in both places. I figure I'll end up crossposting a lot if I get settled in at DW as well.

I've only gotten an eml when the importing was complete, not for the individual parts of the import, if that's what you mean? Or maybe you just plain hit a glitch?

I know the being both places is tricky. That's where I've been at, but I just got notices about my paid time on LJ expiring and there's no way I'm giving them any more money.
Plurk is another good way to network with RP people across the move, I guess. It's helped me reconnect with some people I haven't RPed with in ages, old time Nexus people and a lot of mods.

Crossposting is useful, but it doesn't seem to link back from here to my entries on DW, although the reverse is true. My latest posts, all the comments for them are over on DW.
I do need to update his contact post there. Instead of setting a post with the date in the future, you can just make a sticky post that stays at the top. The info on mine needs updating first, though.

I haven't switched over to Dreamwidth yet. I am a little stubborn about the fact that I paid for 100 icons in LJ, and will stick out at least the paid user account term.

I also have a LJ community where my players are still active in too.

I am currently viewing everything in LJ in my own layout style.

But it might be wise for me to create a couple of backup journals. I would not want to lose any roleplaying opportunities with the friends I have made.

Yeah, it hurt to pay for icons there when this one still had them, but it's going away now. I'd say go make a journal and set up crossposting, and even if you don't use it for now you'll have the option later. I don't know how long DW will allow making journals without invites, it's this thing they've done I think to kind of accommodate us all in our mass exodus.

If I had a comm being terribly active here, I'd be more likely to check stuff out. As said above, if you poke me I'm still happy to play here because I <3 you guys.

Making backup journals is good, yeah. I've made one for my non-rp journal, and for three journals (kalel_ofkrypton, kentlings, and clark_luthor) and imported all except Clark's main. I'm thinking about merging his regular and hero/redbluesuperguy journal if I do import since you can do that with DW, though not until I get money for icons. So if you make one for April and the kids, the names for mine are the same.

I might just start working on that. But in the same boat as you, wanting the full icon experience.
