Went around to a few flea markets looking for new books today. Had a list of things I was looking for (mainly Sherlock Holmes pastiche). was able to cross one thing off my list, and found some other delicacies as well...
- The Seven Per Cent Solution by Nicholas Meyer. This is the one that had been on my list. I haven't read it before, though I have seen the movie. I am in process of reading all of the Sherlock Holmes canon at the current time, and am searching for things to read when I am through with canon.
- The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. While I have read all of this book, I did not own it. I have no problem with reading online (though I do sometimes get headaches if I read too long), or with borrowing from the public lending library (I adore my public library!), I do however prefer to have my own copies of books I am likely to read again.
- Great Cases of Sherlock Holmes a collection from The Franklin Library of Mystery Masterpieces. This one was so cheap($1.50), and so pretty(green hardback with gold inlay), and has the added bonus of having "A Sherlock Holmes Atlas" in the back of the book, that I couldn't resist. The Stories contained within the book are from The Adventures of Sherlock Homes,The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes, and The Return of Sherlock Holmes.
- The Devil in Amber by Mark Gatiss. I read this one a year ago. Lucifer Box vs. Nazi's... \o/
- How to Spell It: A Handbook of Commonly Misspelled Words by Harriet Wittels & Joan Greisman. It was $.96. I bought it for my oldest spawn, so that maybe she will stop saying..."Mom! How do you spell ?".
- Gay New York:Gender, Urban Culture, and the Making of the Gay Male World 1890-1940 by George Chauncey. This looks really interesting, especially if I ever start actually writing fic instead of just reading it...
edited to add a picture of the haul:.
