I am determined to win (but afraid that determination is not enough)

i ... i don't want to hate DPNs. but, man, they're just so hard to wrangle! i cannot seem to get the hang of doing it smoothly. i'm not even worrying about ladders; i'm talking about where do the freaking needles go. they get in the way of the working needles and get my yarn twisted around them and i just want them to knock it off! wrangling needles takes all the fun out of it. :(

can anyone recommend a good resource -- book, online, whatever -- for learning how to handle the things so they're not out of control? i've done a couple of hats that involved DPNs, which were awkward but doable, but i've got a sock i'm working on now and it's just so frustrating to deal with the needles that i barely ever pick it up (and i think at this rate it's going to take me another five years before i even need to learn how to turn the heel!).

i want to learn the magic loop and two circs methods as well, but i'd like to conquer the DPNs first, if only to say i did. any pointers you could share would be much appreciated!
