A few months from now, you should be: a book cover designer. Or a movie poster designer. Or some sort of apprentice towards these trades. Seriously, I have met these people, and they combine genre knowledge with artistic ability and general savvy...ness, and I kept thinking of you.
I feel a bit worried at the tales of showers and laundry. I don't think I haven't put myself through the same sort of elaborate torture, through the course of student-hood, but I like to think that back then I was naive and it had some sort of point. Yours reads a bit more like a survival narrative. My Side of the Mountain. Etc. Yay for you coping?
I would actually really, really like to know how to get apprenticeships in those sorts of trades. In fact I would goddamn love it. Obviously getting one here would be best, but I'd move to Wellington to do it, or even deign to live with my parents for the duration if I had to do one in Auckland. I just have no idea how to get such a thing, or who to ask. :(
One day soon, I am sure, using a washing machine will stop feeling like a luxury and equilibrium will return. Or I will acquire a shotgun and bowie knife, and learn to skin rabbits. One or the other.
