Wow, thanks for that.

Today my boss felt the need to tell me that he's not racist, but "Asians are animals. They're just animals." For Christ's sake, Bernie, it was one dirty bathroom and you weren't even the one who had to clean it.

(I need a new job. Have I mentioned I need a new job? Somewhere. Anywhere. I am on the brink of considering Auckland right now.)

Good freakin' gods. How about Wellington? Have you tried Wellington?

Well, no, it's rainy and windy as fuck if I recall, but that hasn't stopped me trying.

I have, as a matter of fact. There was a rather crushing moment where I actually got offered a job interview, but had to turn it down because there was no way I could get to it in time.

Any time someone feels the need to explain how they are not actually racist, it tends not to end well. :(

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there's no statement on Earth more likely to precede a racist comment. It's some kind of linguistic paradox of grossness.

yes but you will be just as poor in wellington as you will be here, it is also hard to find jobs there and everything is more expensive. The city is O for Awesome and the people are great, but for purely selfish reasons PLEASE DON'T leave me. Sadface.

): I don't want to leave! But when Tem comes back to work full-time and my hours go back to what they were (i.e. somewhere between part-time and non-existent), if I can't find another job here I am screwed. And then looking at Wellington (or Christ help me, Auckland, where I can at least live with the parents for free) will be a necessity, because scraping by on handouts barely lets me pay my share of bills, let alone save anything.

Yeah... at my job today all of my co-workers were doing an offensive middle eastern accent, and then someone came in to tell them to quiet down because there was a "derka-derka" in the building.

I work in a service industry too. They're all just that backward.
