So I just sucked it up and took the car to the dealer - after having tried the uncle, and some coworkers - the little fucker would not come out without taking it to the dealer. So how much did they charge you? Anything beyond cost of headlight?

I already had the headlight - I bought the bulb so I could do it myself. They charged me $45 for labor. Sigh. At first that was way too much for me, but seeing as though my uncle couldn't do it - and the piece was just being stubborn...I didn't want it to break. It was worth having a mechanic do it so he was liable.

I work for a the local toyota dealers and no one can go into the service area, except the service techs and the managers. I have been told it is an insurance thing, even though we work for the company.

also I used to own a 99 jetta in DC. Loved the car, but was also a pain to change any of the bulbs. I was able to, though don't remember how but do remember it took a bit of time, a lot of cursing and a couple of cuts to the hands. Still a great car though :-)
