washfic! oh, awesome, awesome. I don't think I've ever read anything that went this deep into his background before, and I really like your take on it- wash has always seemed too sweet to me to have grown up in the city. this was beautifully written. thank you!

Thank you! I'd had the skeleton of the idea for a while & I went to a baseball game last night on Irish Heritage Night, and apparently sat in the Irish section, and the rest of it just sort of bubbled out today. I'm so glad you liked it!

I really like this -- it's great. And fantastic-ly written. You've really taken everything we don't know about Wash and distilled it into a very entertaining character piece. Really, a great job.

I don't suppose that we can see Zoe meet the family, can we? ;)

ps --- one typo, only mistake I caught: "Psht! Back luck and happenstance," Gran says. I think that should be "bad" luck, no?

Nice work! A bit truncated at the end, but it really worked for the story. You worked really well within the perametres of Whedon's world and created a very convincing backstory for Wash. Bravo!

Thank you! I agree; the ending is a little more abrupt than I'd like...but there wasn't much further I could go without going WAY further, and I'm just not ready to write a Wash novel yet! LOL. Thanks for reading!

So I'm a little late in commenting on this, but I got the rec from jebbypal on fireflyfanfic and have finally gotten the chance to read it.

I'm so glad I did! This is an awesome portrayal of Wash, his history, and his obsession with the stars. You give us so much characterization in such a short time that it's amazing. I am in awe of you and can't wait to read more.

And Wash...sighs...one of my favorite characters!
