this entry of yours was really beautiful, i did want to say that.
but i'd like to follow that up by asking: are you kidding with what you wrote in my latest post?
how have i manipulated the privacy of anyone? i've changed their first names. i've put it under a LOCKED FRIENDS entry. i've said nothing bad about 90% of them. i appreciate your sensitivity, but perhaps do you think you're taking it a bit far? i'm completely allowed to post whatever i want to the intimate collection of friends i've got on the internet. it wasn't broadcast publicly. i'll miss reading your posts but i really can't help but feel relieved at being free from your sanctimony. christ.
i think you have violated people's privacy by posting their photos - it was done without their consent, yes?
i would be rather upset if someone posted my face -- and assume others, though perhaps not most, may share that sentiment.
and yes, of course you're right, it's your blog and you're allowed to post whatever you want. i like reading it very much. but still think that their faces are out of place...
with the exception of "kerry" and "morris" (NOT real names), these people are my FRIENDS. it is a locked journal entry. what about the thousands of other people who post pictures of their friends/acquaintances EVERY DAY on blogs, journals, other? do they receive consent from these people they're posting? should they?! should i check with my boyfriend before posting a picture of him in MY JOURNAL? should i check with my mom? these pictures are already available online. nobody gave their written consent to be featured on our company website - it's an aspect of the job that we all have to silently comply to. your argument is basically that if i do not get consent from others to post their pictures it's violating their privacy. that isn't true! i am not publicly slandering them. i didn't even use their real names!!
why would you be so upset if someone posted your face? would you really be upset if it was a friend? in a LIVEJOURNAL ENTRY? if so, i think you've got a weaker heart than most.
>>>if so, i think you've got a weaker heart than most.
you're crossing the boundary of turning an argument into a personal attack, just to point it out, and there's really no reason for it.
as for the rest, yes, i still think it is improper to post anyone's photo, without their knowledge, even though i realise it's done right and left. it's only my personal opinion, and that's it, i'm not chastising you for what you do.
and there's a question of scale, too -- i think it's more improper to post photos of unknowing co-workers than to post photos of a boyfriend who knows you have a blog and can fathom his face in it.
don't get me wrong, i do not think this is a big deal, but nevertheless stick to my original argument.
