Did you guys see tonight's episode of The Real World? What did you guys think? I thought it was well presented/explained - especially the expert on the after show. The unfortunate thing is, now I can't stop thinking about it.

don't know, but you can see the episode on MTV.com - it's mostly the last half an then the aftershow.

After I read your entry, I happened to catch the re-run of both it and the reunion show tonight between episodes of "16 and Pregnant." It's just so unfortunate to me that because so many girls use cutting as an attention grabbing thing, that that's all anybody sees anymore when they talk/think about the subject, e.g. "oh she doesn't *really* have a problem, she's an attention whore," etc. It's seen as such a fad, a poor Ophelian excuse to garner attention and pity that just chaps my ass. IMO she didn't seem very sincere....then again, I'm pretty cynical by nature. But I am glad that she said, 'I thought I was okay and I guess I'm not,' and also clarified that this wasn't something she did on a regular basis, something that was, for her, triggered by great stress--I think a lot of people don't know that self injury is not neccessarily a daily/hourly thing. I think it was better done than the RW San Diego episode where the girl with cystic fibrosis cut herself on camera and was confronted by it. That asshole kid making the signs ( ... )

Sometimes I wish I watched TV. I was just thinking the other day, "Wow, I haven't heard anything about self injury in the media; I wonder if it's still as prevalent as it was five years ago?" But then I remembered, I don't follow most media anymore. I keep halfway hoping the next generation just won't cut, but that's a pipedream I suppose.
