Trading Lynches: A Compare and Contrast Look at The A-Team

Warning: Spoilers for the movie and all five seasons of the series.  Do not read if you haven't seen all of this and do not wish to be spoiled.

First of all, I want to say that I truly love both the movie and the television show.  The movie is what introduced me to the show.  I ( Read more... )

WOW! Just WOW! This is awesome and perfect. I love it! Thanks for writing all that down! I haven't seen the whole show yet (in fact, I am watching it slowly because I don't want it to come to an end) I may watch all those eps you were refering to first, though ( ... )

Wow, that was a long reply ;) I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Face's relationship with Murdock was his most redeeming quality for me in the show. He was good to him and more often than not happily indulged his fantasies.

The network wanted to drop Murdock after the pilot because they thought he was too out there. Cannell argued for him so they tested the first episode with audiences and audiences loved him. So, the network kept him. But, you'll notice in some season one episodes, Murdock isn't in them that much, that's because they had to write him back into scripts they'd originally had without him.

Amy's my favorite too. She really got the spirit of things and she had a nice relationship and understanding with all of the guys.

I think you mean Decker and Crane. I do think it's cool that Crane was always with Decker. I enjoy that.

Thanks for reading and replying.

Thanks for the info about Murdock! I have to rewatch season 1 again to figure that out. I was watching so many eps at once, that I can't remember! I almost think Murdock is the MOST loved character from the public of the four, just BECAUSE he is so way out there!

I'm glad you agree.

BCoop is totally sexy.

I don't think Hannibal's firing squad line was melodramatic at all. He was making it clear to them that he wouldn't be like Morrison. They had to believe that. And yes, you do believe him. It's weird that I find Neeson's Hannibal to be both more intimidating and more caring than Peppard's was. I get what you mean that Peppard's could be a bit unsympathetic at times. I felt that way too.

BA did get more to work with in the movie than on the show. The most emotion I think Mr. T's BA ever got was in Curtain Call. I loved Rampage's delivery of 'yeah' too. Got a chuckle out of me.

Interesting view on Murdock. I suffer from secondhand embarrassment easily and heavily (that's why I rarely watch video interviews, in case things get awkward)but I never felt it with Murdock. Well, maybe once when he was doing some chicken dance. I had to look away then. I did feel that way about BA though, but that's because Mr. T just couldn't act. He just couldn't and it was embarrassing when he

I too think Bradley's Face is more sexy, BUT I think that's just because we, nowadays, are fixed on that look. The scruffyness, the muscles, the tatoo, the curly, combed back hair. I think Dirk, back in the day, was seen just as sexy since being unshaven wasn't well recived back then. He's just a bit too skinny for me at times. At one point I was worried that he was doing some bad diet that wasn't good for him at all!!! I do like Brad's voice a lot more, though...ANYWAY as soon as I watch an ep, I fall all over again for Dirk's Face. When one watches closely, he's just as good a soldier and does subtle things one doesn't see at first sight but that ARE always useful for the team ( ... )

This is interesting reading. It's good to hear from somebody who didn't get into the TV series until after the movie. Interesting character breakdown too. They're definitely very different from each other. TV!Hannibal is practically insane, for example. In fact the TV versions all have some pretty major psychological issues. :D ( ... )

I can understand having a history with the characters and liking them more. I'm glad you liked the read though.

As for Face, I probably am too hard on him. I just can't help it though. I think he was oddly written for someone who used to be a soldier. I still love the character, don't get me wrong, but I tend to prefer the focus to be on someone else. Too much of him starts to irritate me. He was written inconsistantly. Like I said, some of the time, he was great. He was a team player, he took the leadership role when Hannibal was out of the picture. But, other times it was like he wanted nothing to do with them.

Hannibal was always making him do dangerous things, and BA hated everybody. I'd be a little wary of them myself. ;)
