Since arriving back in the UK, something rather bizarre has come to my attention. For all my prissy whining about Australia being “ridiculously right wing”, I could not help but notice that in the run-up to the forthcoming General Election, the press here appears to be almost identical. Well... I've been told off by an Australian on another forum for being slightly alarmist about John Howard. He argues that their PM "isn't as bad as George Bush", but then I suppose he would.

I'm well aware that most of my post is based on speculation, but the very fact that the Conservative promotional manifesto in this country appears to be utterly identical to the Australian Liberal Party's in every way, shape and form doesn't bode well.

What's scary is that I actually have friends who are saying they will be voting Conservative at the election "just to get the current corrupt Labour party out". I don't disagree that the Labour party are corrupt, but I alo don't understand where this sudden idea that the Tories are any better actually came from.... are people's memories honestly that short?

Yeah that's inevitable. Sad, but true.
What we need is a convincing 'third way'. I'll be voting for Playstation then!
