Ever since they moved in downstairs, Amanda and I have assumed that the small child downstairs is autistic. If not autistic, then certainly somebody who suffers from OCD. Pretty sure children can't learn to reason until they're what, 9? 10?. Would've thought systems of bribery and instruction would work better before that age. To a child, it isn't being unreasonable, it just wants what it wants.

Obv, it's easy for a child-free person to say this, but then again, it's hard for a child-free person to sit on a bus whilst a child runs up and down the top deck, or screams when its parent tries to reason with it.

Agreed. I have no doubt that the whole business is far harder than it looks, but still - there are so many terrible parents out there, making life worse for themselves as well as everyone else.
