Does a Talking Dog Excuse One from Child-Rearing?

Me and Erin were having a discussion about this, with myself taking the "pro" position, and her the "anti-" or whatever. I say that if a dog or cute puppy or similar creature could talk, I would not feel the need to have a kid at any point, probably, or at least much less would I want one. She says that is dumb. Talking dogs would TOTALLY replace children in terms of the pleasure they produce, etc. However, dogs live like, 20 years max. Also, for me, adopting or raising children is more of a humanitarian responsibility than a choice. having your own kids...whatever. Dogs are better.

Animals can no way replace the loving and wonderful disasters and joys of parenting a child. That's just an opinion though, as I have no children. There's always cloning; you could raise another Bill or two, sons of metal, sons of lyre.

Uh, i agree with Erin. Kids can't replace dogs.

But, I am too whacked out to write a supporting argument so... adieu!
