The sweet sound of music echoed through the basement of the Hellsing mansion. Alucard paused for a moment to listen; the instrument playing was a sound he hadn't heard in centuries. He had doubted he would ever hear such a sound again after he left his homeland, after the years had progressed and the making of instruments had changed and advanced. That was an old sound, somewhere between the double bass and violin of modern times. He had to think, that annoyed him, Alucard always knew things, he never had to think unless it was something to do with those perplexing humans. This was something he should know, something from his past. Hoping it would help his memory he started to pace.
"What" - step - "are" - step - "you?" Suddenly he froze. "Viol!"
With a grin the vampire set off towards the source of the sound.
As he pushed open the door to Keiytr's chambers he smirked. She was perched on the edge of her coffin, eyes closed with a viol across her knee. Her nimble fingers danced along the strings at the top as her other hand played back and forth with the bow. She sensed his presence but did not look up, she was playing a favourite from the Wallachian court and he knew she would not acknowledge him until the song was over.
"Do you remember the first time you heard that?" She asked eventually, meeting his red eyes with her grey ones.
"Indeed." He smirked. "How could I forget?"
It had been their first real meeting. He had seen her within the castle walls on more than one occasion but that had been the first time they had spoken. She was using a different name back then, as was he, although she was no longer the woman whose name she used. She was no longer a human whereas he still was, albeit his enemies would disagree. Still she used her human name, Aubrey, named after a saint of all things. He still found it amusing to call her by that name, a demon whore named after a saint, though she often reacted violently to it these days.
The woman sat amongst the women of the court, although she had never been one of his queens or courtesans. Vlad regarded her cautiously, how had a woman managed to infiltrate the inner sanctum of his castle? It worried him a little, no one should have been able to slip past his guards so easily, he had seen her flitting around his castle during the dark hours before and that had unsettled him enough but here? He would be sure to question later, but for now she seemed to pose no threat and she was somewhat of a rare beauty. He had never seen hair of that lustrous blood colour before, a rarely a figure so perfectly formed. The count settled himself in his seat and watched her, somewhere in the court an announcement was made and the beautiful woman pulled out a viol. As soon as she began to play he was lost, she was so talented, her fingers danced over the strings. Soon his mind began to wander, though the music was beautiful he could think of things he would much prefer to see her doing with those nimble hands of hers. He groaned.
When the night had drawn on too long and everyone had retired to their chambers a knocking came at the Voivode's door. He padded across the room, already out of his fine doublet and opened the door bare-chested, expecting it to be only one of his guards or courtiers. Instead he was faced with the beautiful pale face of the viol player. He flushed slightly.
"How did you get here?" He demanded. "My guards..."
"Are otherwise occupied." She explained, wiping her lips. "You enjoyed my performance I believe?"
She slipped past him and he growled, turning around and closing the chamber door behind him.
"That is no reason for you to be here. What is it that you want?" He demanded, growing more infuriated with the woman by the moment. "If you do not answer my question..."
"You'll what? Kill me?" She was before him now, her breath cold on his face. "Greater men than you have tried. Regardless, I did not come here for a fight." She leant forwards so her lips almost grazed his ear. "I saw you watching me, I know what you were thinking. I have very skilled hands indeed," she murmured, fingers trailing up the inside of his thigh...
Alucard shook his head, the redhead laughed and stepped towards him one hand reaching up to stroke his face, the other resting lightly on his hip - the fingertips gently stroking the black material. The vampire could feel that growing ache, the one he had felt so many centuries ago the first time they had been in this situation.
"You remember how that night ended?" She purred.
He nodded, hand grasping at her corseted waist tightly. A small growl passed his lips.
"I have no time for games."
"Neither have I." Keiytr chuckled, pulling the vampire inside and kicking the door closed behind her.
