Hikaru Genji. You've probably heard of them. Hell, you've more likely than not heard a song from them.
And hell, who HASN'T heard about Akasaka's fuck up? Seriously.
But enough of that. Lets actually get to talking about Hikaru Genji back in the day.
~~
Having debuted in 1987 and having broken up in 1995, they saw the coming(and going in a case) of Otokogumi, SMAP, Ninja and TOKIO. Hell, SMAP back danced for them.
How you back dance for roller skaters, one may never know.
If they don't watch Hikaru Genji perfs. Because that is what they were famous for. Oh no, Kis-My-Ft didn't start it. They just copied Hikaru Genji. Like how Hey! Say! JUMP is following Hikaru Genji by being young, split by age, and using colours.
But they aren't as shiny. Or gay. Come back to me when HSJ performs with an LED flashing rainbow.
Sadly, though, as of today, only two Hikaru Genji members still remain in JE. Atsuhiro and Uchiumi have managed to stick around. Akasaka went and did meth because his wife divorced him and took the kid. Poor guy.
A few others, however, are actually still in entertainment. Like Ka-Kun. Who, song wise, I'd call him Yoko.
Hikaru Genji had a lot of work, I'd say. Considering they were only around for seven years, they released over 20 singles and about 20 albums, idol DVD's and did concerts, commercials, and TV appearances. If you're curious, that's an average of three singles a year, with about half of them having four.
No wonder they cut down on singles a year for the recent groups.
As is, there is a lot of existing Hikaru Genji information. HOWEVER - I suck at Japanese. Kanji still confuse me. Thus, I can't really GET AT IT.
Thus I'll move onto more info that I've managed to scratch up. :D
~~
If you're a JE fan, you'll probably have heard HSJ being compared to Hikaru Genji. IT MAKES SENSE. Mikki and Kinoppy used to be in another group before the formation of HikaGen, not unlike Yabu and Hikaru.
If not, you probably didn't get that. Sorry. My bad. :o

MEMBERS
HIKARU
Uchiumi "Kinoppy" Kohji (内海光司)
The oldest of Hikaru Genji, Kohji was 19 at debut. He's actually still in JE. :D
As of 2007, he was known to be doing stage plays.
Osawa "Mikki" Mikio (大沢樹生)
The second oldest of Hikaru Genji, Mikki was one of the two to leave Hikaru Genji. In effect, blame this guy for the disbanding. XD
Since then he's released a few albums, and appeared in a few drama's, movies, etc. Nothing unexpected, really.
GENJI
Morohoshi "Ka-Kun" Kazumi (諸星和己)
I HAVE ASSUMPTIONS THAT KUSANO WENT TO NEW YORK TO MEET THIS GUY. REALLY.
Okay, seriously. Ka-Kun was 17 at debut, and left JE when SUPER 5 disbanded. These days, he's probably better known for his... habit of doing monomane's of himself. Yes, he's THAT Johnny.
He was also the one who ran around in that bandana for a while. I ADMIT TO HAVING A KA-KUN BIAS. NOW YOU KNOW. Not my fault he's cute. :|
Sato "Hiro-kun" Hiroyuki (佐藤寛之)
This is the other guy to blame for the formation of SUPER 5. However, he's still around, and has released a few singles since he left.
No really.
Yamamoto "Jun-kun" Junichi (山本淳一)
This guy only left JE in 2002, and was 15 at the debut of HikaGen. He's... I have no idea, really. XD J-Wiki gives me a link to his blog.
Have it.
Akasaka Akira (赤坂晃)
You. I mentioned earlier, but this is the meth guy. xD;; I hate having to say that, since people are quick to judge. I mean, come on. He was 14 at debut, went off in a duo during HikaGen days, released an album and three singles after HikaGen disbanded, and appeared in many stage plays.
Yet he's still the meth guy who screwed it up for Uchi.
MOVE ON PLEASE.
THIS guy is/was a Dance King. He can, you know, DANCE. :D
Sato "A-kun" Atsuhiro (佐藤敦啓)
The only HikaGen boy left in JE! He was 13, and days from 14 when STAR LIGHT was released.
As of now, he's active in stage plays, and has popped up in a few movies.

UPLOADS
ROFL. Meet my lame list of FIVE UPLOADS. BUT THEY ARE GOOD SONGS.
WINNING RUN Cute and happy - and horribly funny if you've seen the perf of it that has TOKIO the backing band getting smoked out of view.
Mikazuki no Yoru Ni I swear I love this song. I've heard the Jr's singing it a few times, and it never fails to amuse me.
Yuuki 100% CUTE CUTE CUTE. It was the opening to a season of Nintame Rantaro, and YaYaYah covered it on a single.
Boys In August Another song I really like - the piano at the beginning is nice. It's a good summer song.
2.5.7 I ADMIT. THIS IS MY FAVOURITE SONG. It's totally a song about the group. XD HAPPY LUCKY KINOPPY. Also? Ka-Kun wrote it.
