They're both 28 (it's in the summary).
And he does already have a slight idea. See his remark about baseball (should be a hint for him, you'd think, LOL) and that other ranch hand, but he can't wrap his mind around the idea yet.

Your story even mentions 1 of fav sports- baseball. I think Ennis is attracted to Jack and maybe he kind of has the mindset of he's in another place than home so it could be ok. I bet he looks great in those shorts...
