Tell her there are many ways
To die, and each is lonely.
(from "Tell Her", by Judith Kitchen)

When first I died, imprisoned,
A Valkyrie looked upon me.
Wrath and vengeance, and yet,
Compassion, before the void.

When next I died, repeating,
Her hands deliver me
Peace, though she knows it not.
Death in place of desire.

When next I die, surrendering,
I will give her my life each time,
Until she receives my love instead.
This, she willingly accepts.
