Oh yes, and the stars are magnificent when seen from the mountains or somewhere else without city lights. I actually saw constellations besides Orion. It is easy to forget how many stars there are in the sky living in a city.

I wholeheartedly agree. Having lived in horribly light-pollluted places for much of my life, I find the night sky in places like Colorado literally breath-taking. I shudder to think of how the LA night sky looks to you.

God, I miss dark sky. Our idea of camping always starts to sound good again when I think of dark sky.
