One cat or two?

This is largely for those of you with cat experience:

I've been struggling with the decision of whether we should get one cat or two. Our place seems like it might be a little small for two cats, and they would be more expensive to care for than one. But one cat (or kitten) might get bored and lonely while we're both away at work.

Thoughts?

Cats are naturally social creatures. All it takes is a look at the larger cats in the wild to appreciate the sentiment. It's no different with our household feline friends, but in many ways we, the humans, take the place of their "cat families." We're often viewed as the alpha cats and are treated as such ( ... )
