Perhaps I'm just ridiculously sentimental, but there are some songs which often bring tears to my eyes. Scotland Rise Again is chief among these. I don't have an ounce of Scottish blood. But the sound of bagpipes is the sound of freedom.

I think it is sentimentality. There are some songs (as well as visual scenes from film) that do the same to me. I think I understand your appreciation for the bagpipes. Sometimes it's not so much the words of a song as it is in the way the instruments are played. That is, the feeling conveyed and an ineffable force behind them. Also, the way the singer sings the words can have a tremendous effect. Isn't it absolutely wonderful to be so moved?

I'll have to admit there are a few movie soundtracks I own for this very reason.
