Started the 'Ayn Rand Group' and invited some people to join. I've also contacted some people from the ARF and apologized to them. I'm interested to see what happens next. One possibility is that the ARF is populated mostly by those who feel a loyalty to the "official" wing of Objectivism, the one LP leads, and were never really interested in my

I was avoiding using the 'invitation' on some people until I heard back from them. I'm being ignored by most of those whom I sent my posts to earlier today. I find that odd. If I was uncertain whether a person would want to join, I wrote them first and alerted them.
But in the case of fourwhitewalls, I don't see any alternative to inviting him without a prior alert.

I think, however, that I am going to watch your group for a while before joining it.
Personally, I have no problem with questioning things, nor am I a straight-shooter in the objectivist community. I don't simply follow the "offical" stance without my own thoughts first.
Personally, I'm not really interested in the personal tiffs that ARI and Branden, and all thr other people might be having or have had, or whatever.
It was only your rudeness that really set me afire. I think that you were operating from a long history of defending Branden from attacks, and pulled your guns a little too quickly.
That said, I wish you success in your new community and your life.

I support Leonard Peikoff and the Ayn Rand Institute, but I don't think what you seem to think about them and those who support them is accurate. The people closest to ARI have, in my experience, been the least dogmatic.
I think Ayn Rand was a great person with a great personality--not because that's what Leonard Peikoff asserts, but on the basis of all the evidence that is available to me, given that I never actually met Ayn Rand. That evidence includes numerous first-hand accounts, including those of the Brandens, video and audio tapes of Ayn Rand herself participating in interviews and question periods, relevant books such as Ayn Rand's letters and journals, and my assessment of the character of those people who associated with Ayn Rand and praised her, as against those did not.
