American NO More!

I try to deviate from political crap, mainly because everyone thinks they are right, and they won't be proven otherwise...even when they are proven otherwise. That said, if you are offended by such talks...feel free to skip this post.

I voted for Obama, mainly due to the fact that he was against most of what Bush was for. Bush destroyed this country in his 8 years, and we may never fully recover from it. Our national debt is staggering, and growing every day. The economy is crap, unemployment is sickening, and this all Bush's fault. Now, Obama comes into this mess and has been blamed for every single thing that is wrong right now.

This would all be the same results if McCain had won the election. This is all a product of the Bush administration...

Now, this national healthcare thing is really bugging me. Suddenly all these people who are against Obama because "the economy declined since he took office", automatically oppose this healthcare bill. I keep hearing how evil socialism is, and communism...

So, all you Canadians, Britains, French and Cubans must be evil.

Seriously, when you think about countries that would "doom" the world, do those countries come to mind? When was the last time someone ran screaming "we're gonna be invaded by the evil Canadians any minute now".

Never.

We are at war with the Middle East and terrorism. I can't recall ever hearing of the infamous Canadian Bomber, British Blower-upper, or French Frier.

What is the point? It's simple. Those countries have national healthcare. And it isn't evil. In fact, if you were to go visit one of those countries for a vacation, or just to see a friend...and you were to fall down a flight of stairs and break your legs...covered. They will take care of you as if you were one of their own, but don't think that any of our hospitals would provide care for one of them should they come here.

I know of a few Canadian people who live here now and still have family in Canada. Their family refuses to come visit without first getting some "insurance" for medical. If one of them them should break an arm while here, they would have to sell their house to pay the bill. And those people find it is a difficult task to acquire medical insurance in Canada, since it is something they don't need.

Britain goes so far to make sure it's "Free Healthcare" that they even pay you back for transportation costs. France has "aftercare" professionals who will come to your home and see that everything is taken care of while you are away or down from healthcare issues, and if you have new baby, or children at all, they will send someone to your home to give you a few hours away each week for your own stress relief care. During those hours someone does your laundry, cooks for you, or whatever you may need done, just to ease the burden on you, for better mental health.

Man, that sure sounds evil to me! Might want to station a company of troops at the Canadian border, and quick! And better prepare and invasion force for Paris, they have got to be making WMD's under the Eifel Tower.

I hear these claims that national healthcare is a step backwards. Well, using the previous info I gave you, does that seem like a lack of progress?

England has the most advanced medical research in the world, so I think they know a thing or two about medicine. For a country like America, where 80% of the population can't afford medical care, and 85% doesn't have any insurance....how can we call ourselves part of progress?

Leaving our people living in poverty is one thing, but to deny them medical care isn't progress. We provide Food Stamps for low income families. We make sure they can eat so they won't die...but we don't make sure they are healthy, so they won't die.

Strange thing is, in this reasoning, people have to eat everyday. You don't need healthcare everyday. So the cost of healthcare will be lower than that of providing food. Some disagree with this, but they fail to see the one point they are missing. Healthcare costs would be significantly lower with universal healthcare. You can't say the cost is too high based on the current costs of medical care, because we wouldn't need universal healthcare if these medical providers weren't charging too much in the first place.

If you don't like the way the bill works, and you think that the details are bad...fine. I won't dismiss your judgement on that. But if your only excuse for not wanting such a bill is because "it's evil" you're just being stupid.

It's one thing to be patriotic, but another thing entirely to hate other countries for no real reason. No one asked you to move to Canada, England, or France, and just because we make some "progress" and get a national healthcare, it doesn't mean they are infiltrating our country and "infecting us with their foreign ways". In all honesty, if you ask anyone from that country, they don't mind visiting...but they damn sure don't want to live here, so why would they push their "foreign ways" on us?

In fact, in reality...many of them dislike you just as much as you do them. Why? Because you dislike them for no real reason. That old, do to me and I do unto you thing that is so popular is taking place here.

But wait...you hate them, because they hate you? So, you are being like them, which means you really hate yourself as well? It is a strange and silly concept to just hate foreign people for the sake of doing so. But why the double standard? I ask why it is okay to hate "Canucks, Brits, or Frenchies", and your only defense is, they hate us?

Can't blame them...can you? Instead of taking something good from their countries, like the concept of national healthcare...we take the concept of "hating each other". So, none of the good please...just give me the bad. Nah, can't see a reason why anyone would hate Americans when they think like this.

I have been practicing my British accent lately, and I think I will start denying I am American. I will claim to be a Brit. The beating I get will be far less than the beating I give myself for being associated with the word "American".
