I got a dictionary for Christmas one year when Mya was about ten, can't remember if it was an oxfords or a websters but I do remember finding the word soccer mom in it (two words hello?) and being disgusted and giving up on the English language at that point.

There are a couple of uses for some of the redundant words you've listed, where I could see them being legitimately used.

The one that pops to mind is "Free gift".

If you check out lj's virtual gift section, you can buy people a gift that shows up on their profile. Lately, they have been trying to promote them, by letting you give five virtual gifts for free. These then become free gifts :P
