i dont get it...do you think it's wrong that publishing companies try to get money for the music that is played or performed, or do you think it's wrong that the publishing companies are demanding money from those who dont pay it?
Both. I can understand demanding money, from buinesses that are playing music downloaded illegalily. But if they are playing music from a cd or purchased in some other form, then I don't see why they should have to pay to play it in their own establishment. Like if I had a party, and I had a bunch of people over, and I was playing music from my mp3. Should I have to pay royalities, because other people are listening to it, in a public forum? I mean, for years, many many years. People have been enjoying music in bars, clubs, restaurants. And I'm sure the business owner didn't have to pay these companies, to have the background music playing. I realize that the artists need to be paid, just like a painter needs to be paid, for painting a house, or dishwasher needs to be paid for washing dishes. I just feel that this whole music piracy deal, is getting out of hand.
