PSA on deleting & moving

Well, with the way things are going and the way the new ToS for LJ is written, I'm not real comfy about having my work posted here. That's unfortunate as this is where I started interacting with a lot of people and met a lot of great people. It's sad that it's come to this but you can't use LJ without agreeing to their ToS so ( Read more... )

Their new ToS that came out a few days ago basically gives them rights to any work you post to the site to use however they see fit without compensating you for your work. They can also freeze/suspend/delete your account with no notice to you and you have almost no avenues to get your account reinstated.

Russia also has a pretty hard, unfriendly line on homosexuality. The new ToS allows them to delete content, without warning, for anything they deem "offensive" and that doesn't adhere to Russian law (since they are a Russian company). The law there regarding homosexual activities is written very ambiguously with the wording stating that anything that "raises the interest" (uhhh, what?) of minors in homosexuality or presents a homosexual relationship as normal is punishable by fines and jail time.

I've 'subscribed' to both Dreamwidth accounts. The new ToS didn't thrill me either, but I had to accept them to access my LJ...

Most of the fanfic stuff is/should still be posted to AdultFanFic. I haven't written any fanfic in literally years so hadn't thought about upping it to somewhere else. Should this account get deleted (or if I delete it), I'll poke around and see about possibly re-upping it elsewhere.

Or I could be productive/proactive and mirror this account to my DW account, thus saving all the stuff, which would likely be a fairly decent idea, really.
