A/N: a late birthday fic for Kame. Originally posted on 02/23/2009 in kame_centric for the competition.

Also here's the lovely banner I got for my tied third place:

Each member of KAT-TUN has his own birthday traditions. Jin would go drinking with Yamapi and Ryo, sometimes they took Kame, too. Junno would be all happy and smiling wider than usual as he munched on a cake all day long. Koki would walk around the jimusho and gladly accept the junior’s congratulations and presents while looking very smug for some odd reason no one can really figure out. Ueda would spend his annoying Ryo to get his attention while Ryo refuses to snap back at him thinking that he insults Ueda enough during the other 364 days in a year. Maru would try to get a day off and go spend his birthday with his family.

Kame, though, was a different case, since his birthday traditions were thrown into a trashcan a few years ago. Every year, Jin used to take the younger one out for some kind of surprise, and Kame would follow him gladly knowing the older one had done everything to please him. Then all of sudden, Jin announced his hiatus. Though to contradict the common belief, Kame wasn’t angry with him, he wasn’t really even sad since that was what Jin wanted and he had promised to return. Kame wasn’t sad until his birthday came along.

***Flashback***

02/23/2007

Kame woke up, not even really realizing what day it was. For some time now he had tried to suppress the truth that Jin was not going to be there with him that day, that he would have to figure out something to do on his own.

So he did things to entertain himself, called his family, friends he hadn’t seen for long time, cooked and went for a walk. When the night started to fall he sat down on his sofa. “I’m sure someone will call and ask me out. Maybe even Jin will call,” He thought. For his surprise after a while it wasn’t his phone that rang, it was the doorbell.

Opening the door, he saw two people he thought he would definitely see that day, Yamashita Tomohisa and Nishikido Ryo. He froze.

“Shuuji-kun, get dressed, we’re going out,” Yamapi patted him on the back as he walked past Kame to his apartment. Ryo flashed Kame his very bright smile as he followed Yamapi in.

“What are you waiting for? Get changed, ne?” Yamapi shouted from the kitchen. Kame turned to Ryo who had made himself comfortable on the couch.

“Anoo… Why are you doing this?” Ryo looked at the younger one for a long while before replying.

“Before Bakanishi left, he came to see us. He made the two of us promise to take care of you until he came back. So we’ve been keeping and eye on you. This morning Pi called me and said that Jin always spent your birthday with you, so we figured we’d fill in for him. Now get changed or we’ll change our mind.” Kame stared at Ryo before reluctantly going in to his bedroom to get out of his sweats. He opted for tight dark jeans, a form-fitting white T-shirt and a black jacket. Looking at his image in the mirror, he reached for a dark red scarf hanging near the mirror. Once than accessory was well placed he turned back to the mirror and smiled at him self. “I’ll have fun tonight, even if Jin doesn’t even call me.” At the thought of Jin, his already fake smile faded and he sighed. He turned to the door just as Yamapi burst in and dragged him out.

After that, the night was a bit of blur for Kame. Yamapi and Ryo took him to a dark bar near by and filled him up with alcohol. At some point he started to think about Jin and the previous birthdays he had spent with the other one. Deep in his thoughts, he didn’t realize he was sighing a lot. Yamapi and Ryo glanced at each other and ordered more another round of shots which Kame gladly accepted.

At the end of the night they ended back up to Kame’s, Kame clinging to Yamapi who was more than glad to support the younger’s weight which was not that hard, he realized. Yamapi decided that it was time to let the other know what he actually felt for him. If Yamapi had been a tad more sober, he might not have taken that route but as neither Kame nor Ryo opposed as he captured Kame’s lips with his own, he figured it was alright.

Yamapi pressed Kame against the wall behind him as Kame started to respond to his kiss, movements a bit slow and unsteady as he wrapped his hands around Yamapi’s back. All coherent thought escaped both Kame’s mind and Yamapi’s mind as Ryo moved closer to the two and started to caress Kame’s sides and lowered his mouth to Yamapi’s neck. Soon Ryo’s hands found their way to the quickly growing bulge in Kame’s pants. At the moment when Ryo squeezed him his hands shot to Ryo’s dark hair.

The next morning Kame woke up naked feeling happy and sated, between equally naked Yamapi and Ryo. “Spending the night with them wasn’t so bad after all,” he thought. As he sat up though, a flash of pain, also known as a hangover, sliced through his head. As he lay back down both of the men beside him snuggled closer to his warmth instinctively. Realizing Jin hadn’t called or sent any messages to congratulate him, Kame smiled little sadly before falling asleep again.

***End of flashback***

After being gone for half a year, Jin returned. Kame didn’t know how to act around the older one as he seemed to have grown up and matured during the past months. So time passed and the two interacted awkwardly. Than came Kame’s birthday yet again. That time it was less sad for Kame as he spent the day shooting 1 Pondo no Fukuin. This time, though, Kame received a message.

From: Jin

To: Kazuya

Date: 02/23/2008; 10:14pm

Message:

Congrats, Kazuya.

“That’s it??? Congrats, Kazuya???” Kame felt like the world fell upon him and breathing seemed an impossible task for him as he slumped down on a chair in his dressing room that night. A few tears escaped his eyes as he sat and stared at nothing. Slowly he got up, packed his things and went home to cry himself to sleep. These kinds of days when Kame was reminded of the coldness of their relationship, he wanted nothing more than to have Jin by his side.

So Kame had turned twenty-two and life and work carried just like before. During the following months Kame started to feel better as the awkwardness between the two of them seemed to ease. As they were drowned with work they had to stop running from each other and talk with the other. They weren’t exactly close but both of them seemed happy enough to actually be able to talk with other.

Once again time passed and February came. Jin started fidgeting and became nervous whenever Kame was around. One day when Kame was away, Jin went to see his best friends, seeking advise.

“Pi-chan, what am I going to do???” Jin was practically shaking Yamapi and Ryo was sniggering next to them as he thought Yamapi’s expression was priceless.

“Jin, STOP shaking me and sit down.” Jin glared at the other before sitting down on the couch next to Ryo. “You know we can’t help you if you don’t tell us what it is you need to do something about,” Yamapi stated coolly. For a moment Jin looked at him like he was the stupidest person on Earth before stating as it was the most obvious thing ever: “Kazuya’s birthday, of course.” At the mention of Kame’s birthday Ryo started to fidget nervously. They had never told Jin what went down nearly two years ago and he was positive that neither had Kame. The fact that Jin came to them was enough indication.

“What about it?” Ryo asked trying to hide his nervousness and Jin didn’t seem to notice anything out of the ordinary.

Jin sighed heavily.

“Two years ago I broke our tradition by being away. Last year things were too awkward between us to actually do anything. I need to get him back. I need to get back the time I’ve wasted,” Jin replied seriously. The other two looked at him for a long moment. Then Ryo burst into laughter fell on the floor. “What’s so funny?” Jin asked while he glared at his two best friends. Ryo was still rolling on the floor and Yamapi was sniggering behind his hand.

“Jin, fuck. That took long enough,” Ryo managed to form coherent sentences between his laughter.

“Eh? What took long enough? TELL ME!” Jin dropped off the couch in order to try and shake the answer out of Ryo. Anyway it only resulted in Ryo starting to feel sick and Yamapi finally after having calmed down answering his question with a serious face.

“Your love for Kazuya.” Jin froze in spot and looked up to Yamapi.

“My love… for Kazuya?” Jin asked disbelievingly. He had never even thought that he might actually have fallen in love with the other. “Wait… this is… LOVE?!?!” That was the phrase going around and ‘round in Jin’s head as he fell back on his ass.

After sitting on the floor for a few minutes looking stunned, Jin suddenly jump back up on his feet and ran out of the room. Yamapi and Ryo stared at door for a while before going back to their activities that Jin had interrupted.

After running around the building headlessly, Jin found Kame in their dressing room. The younger was half-sitting-half-laying on the couch with headphones on.

“Kazuya!” Kame’s head snapped up at the sound of his name despite the headphones. He resisted the urge that suddenly overtook him to ignore Jin.

“What, Jin?” He asked, sighing. Jin bounced next to him excitedly and sat down next to him.

“What are you doing on 23rd?” Kame weighed his options to get out of situation. It was weird that after all the awkwardness, Jin was asking this.

“I don’t know, I was thinking of going home for a while. To see my family. I haven’t seen them in a long time.” Jin looked down for a while, thinking.

“Could you… Could you maybe make sometime for me too?” Jin looked up, feeling hopeful. Kame watched closely his features, thinking that maybe this is just some cruel joke. Giving him the longed opportunity to spend time with Jin.

“I-I don’t really know…” Kame’s voiced trailed off as he looked away.

“Come on, a few hours in the evening? Please? Pretty please? Kazuya, please?” Kame wasn’t sure anymore whether Jin was begging or whining. Possibly both. Kame looked back at Jin’s hopeful eyes.

“Fine. In the evening. Once I get back,” Kame said deciding that he was actually quite curious to see what Jin had in store for him.

“Thank you. You won’t regret it, I promise,” Jin exclaimed bouncing happily back up on his feet. Kazuya laid back on the couch and put his headphones back on

“Yeah, whatever.”

The next few days Kame didn’t see Jin much. Apparently he had something better to do than just hang around in between of work.

Actually Jin was running around wanting to make Kame’s birthday evening the best ever. He had recruited Yamapi and even Ryo for help. For Jin it seemed like the time had slowed down and the 23rd would never actually come. But when it did, Jin’s level of nervousness shot up.

On the day of his birthday, Kame was at his parents’ house. His brothers had also decided to join the small celebration. They had just finished their lunch when Kame’s phone buzzed. 1 new message.

From: Jin

To: Kazuya

Date: 02/23/2009; 14:27pm

Message:

I’ll pick you at seven, if that’s alright?

Kame smiled at his phone and quickly typed his reply.

From: Kazuya

To: Jin

Date: 02/23/2009; 14:31pm

Message:

I’ll be waiting at my place.

Soon after came another text.

From: Jin

To: Kazuya

Date: 02/23/2009; 14:33pm

I can’t wait for the night!!!!!

See you in a while, ne~

Oh, and dress warm!

Kame kept smiling for the rest of the afternoon. His brothers were a bit suspicious of his change of heart but said nothing. His parents didn’t realize anything odd in his behavior. Kame kept thinking of what they were going to do.

Around five, Kame excused himself and headed home. He didn’t know what to expect from Jin’s sudden change of heart in their relationship. Whatever would happen, Kamenashi Kazuya would look good.

At seven exact, he heard a knock on his door. At that moment, he swore his heart skipped a bit and the beat became much faster. Suddenly he became nervous and his palms started to sweat. Opening the door, he saw Jin standing there with a shy smile.

“You ready to go?” Jin asked after a while of admiring Kame’s choice of clothing for the night. The younger wore dark blue, a bit baggy jeans and a dark green hoodie. Jin didn’t fail to notice the bracelets covering his left wrist. He had given the to Kame many years ago. A sudden thought that maybe the other had forgotten that flashed through his mind. He decided to ignore it.

“Yeah, just... Let me get my coat,” Kame answered quietly. He was scared that if he spoke any louder his voice would fail him.

Kame grabbed his coat and after locking the door Jin led him to his car. Jin, being the gentleman he was, opened the door for him. Jin smirked as he saw the blush covering Kame’s cheeks. Jin got in and started to drive.

“So how is your family?” Jin asked hesitantly. He wanted to break the awkward silence that surrounded them. Kame glanced at Jin for second and then turned his gaze back to shoreline they were driving by.

“They’re alright. Mom’s worried of my schedule.” Jin thought for a while whether he should say what he wanted. He took a deep breath.

“So am I,” he said. Kame’s head shot back around. He stared at Jin disbelievingly.

“I didn’t think you cared,” he said in a small voice. He dropped his gaze to his hands as he started to play with his bracelets. It would have been Jin’s turn to stare at other but he had to keep his eyes on the road.

“I have always cared. Don’t ever doubt that, no matter what I say or do,” he said determinately as he turn to the yard of a small cabin. A small smile grazed Kame’s features as he heard Jin’s reply. It was so small that it went unnoticed by Jin.

The cabin had view to the sea, that was the reason Jin had chosen it. He prayed that everything was ready and that Yamapi would have gotten out already, as he led Kame in.

“Wow,” Kame was in awe by the beauty of the small but cozy place. Then he saw the dinner and froze.

Jin grabbed the other’s hand after he had lit up the candles surrounding them and taken Kame’s coat. Jin seated Kame by the table and poured wine into their glasses. Then he sat down. He lifted the covers covering the plates off food positioned in front of them. Kame looked at the food and then back to Jin.

“Jin… What’s all this about?” Jin twitched nervously in his seat. When he finally looked at Kame he gulped.

“A few days ago, I realized that I’ve made huge mistakes. I don’t regret going to LA, but I regret how I handled things, especially with you.” Kame gulped as Jin took a deep breath before looking Kame deeply in the eyes. “You can’t imagine how badly I missed you. It was as if someone took the air out of me. So I pushed everything that reminded me of you aside.” There was a long pause as Kame waited for Jin to continue. “When I came back, I got scared to approach you. I felt you didn’t need me anymore, which I guess is true. Then I missed your birthday again, leaving you with a nonchalant message. Then things started to get better, but we still weren’t friends. That’s when I realized what I had done to you.” Kame became more nervous as Jin kept re-telling their story. Jin on the other hand lost himself to his own words and more importantly, Kame’s dark eyes. “I sought advice from Pi-chan and Ryo-chan. When I told them I wanted to do something for your birthday, they laughed. They told me it took long enough. That's when I realized why I missed you so badly that I couldn’t eat or sleep. I realized what *it* was.” At this point Jin stood up and walked around the table. He knelt beside Kame and took his hand to his own. “Kamenashi Kazuya, I love you. I don’t know for how long I have loved you. Probably since the day we met. But now I know and it really did take long enough and I’m sorry.” Jin’s eyes were filled with desperation, hope and something Kame had longed to see for the longest time. Love.

Kame dropped down onto his knees beside Jin and hugged him tightly.

“I love you, too, Jin. I’ve loved you for so many years, but you just saw me as a good friend.” Kame’s eyes were filled with tears as he pulled away and looked at Jin. Jin smiled and pressed his lips to Kame’s.

Their first kiss was slow and gentle, filled with love. After that their kisses became more urgent, more needy. Jin pulled away to stumble back on his feet and dragged Kame up with him. Slowly they made their way to the bedroom. It took a while with the way they stopped to kissed each others, to get rid of their clothes.

When they finally stumbled on the bed, Jin on top of Kame, Jin was topless, Kame’s hoodie was gone and his pants were half-opened. Jin broke the kiss to pull Kame’s shirt over his head, then started to nibble his neck. As he bit and sucked, Kame’s hands tangled in his hair and loud moans were escaping his mouth. Kame pulled Jin back up to claim his lips as his hands ran down his torso. When his hands finally found Jin’s belt, he quickly opened it and slid his hand to his pants. As he cupped Jin’s erection, Jin broke the kiss to moan out loud.

He looked down at the man laying under him with lust before pushing himself off completely. He quickly got rid of his jeans and boxers before stripping Kame of his own. Kame blushed when he was completely naked in front of Jin. The blushed disappeared quickly when he felt Jin’s mouth covering his erection. He looked down and thought he must have gone to heaven. It felt too unrealistic as Jin sucked around his cock and scraped his teeth lightly making Kame shiver.

Kame whimpered at the loss as Jin pulled away. Then Jin’s lips were on his own again. He could taste his own pre-come in Jin’s mouth, covering the taste that was completely Jin. He hadn’t even realized Jin had taken out any lubed before he felt Jin push a finger into his hole. He gasped in Jin’s mouth, all coherent thought finally leaving him. His hands gripped Jin’s shoulders as Jin pushed another finger in. A sudden flash of pain didn’t go unnoticed by Jin as he froze bit his own lip. Jin looked into Kame’s lust-filled eyes as he gripped Kame’s cock again and started to pump it in attempt to ease the pain. He started to move his fingers in and out again. As he hit that spot inside Kame, the younger arched of the bed and moaned louder than before.

“Jin…” Jin looked up to his eyes as he removed his fingers. He positioned himself to Kame’s hole and pushed in with a swift motion. He moaned at the tight heat surrounding him as he nearly Kame. He stayed still until he saw the pain ease away from Kame’s face. When the younger rolled his hips he took it as a sign that he could move. He started to move in and out. With every thrust the pace increased. Every time he hit that particular spot and Jin felt Kame being closer and closer to the edge. He pumped Kame’s cock and after a few seconds Kame came screaming Jin’s name. It took one more thrust before Jin came screaming Kame’s name.

Jin got up to get a wet towel. He cleaned them up and threw the towel on the floor. Then he climbed back onto the bed and circled his arms around the younger’s waist. Pulling Kame as close as he could he whispered: “I love so much, Kazu-chan. Please never ever doubt that.” Kame snuggled closer.

“I love you, too.” Jin smiled.

“Happy birthday.” Whatever Kame said was mumbled against Jin chest. Jin didn’t really care as he felt Kame’s breathing even out. Jin closed his eyes and let the sleep overcome him. Kame thought smiling against Jin’s chest, that the day must have been the best day of his life. Then he, too, fell asleep dreaming of Jin.
