One of the dudes, the old guy with white hair, actually approached Peter waaay long ago around the Other arc, talking about spiders being spiritual and stuff. It looked like he was being attacked too despite the fact that he really wasn't all that connected despite having spider powers (he can cling to walls, etc).
I think the 'spider connection' and those with direct links to Spider-man are what are being targetted- in fact in ASM Presents Black Cat, she's under attack too.
Yeah--Ezekiel is his name. He first showed up in JMS's run on the book a few years back, and his gig was the whole spider-totem mysticism thing. I won't say what his deal turns out to be here, because that's a spoiler for ASM #635, which came out this week.
I heard the Black Cat book was tied in somehow, but I didn't pick it up. I was going on what I've seen in the last two issues, the Grim Hunt arc itself--634-35, which have only come out in the last two weeks. Granted that that's like, only 44 pages of story so you can only fit so much in--I get that part. I just would've liked to see more people pulled in to what's supposed to be the culmination of a months-long overarching story of the Kraven clan versus Spidey... with the character I play in particular included.
