Yet another novelty song from the 70's I've exhumed.  I love YouTube.  This is the Five Man Electrical Band from 1974.  It's like an entire Hammer film in 3:37.  And it's a great performance too.  Though by '74, I don't think anyone was left from the band who recorded "Signs" besides the singer.  But it's killer nonetheless.

When I was unearthing vintage 70’s CanCon pop goodies off of Youtube last year, I was surprised how much Five Man Electrical Band stuff there was! I remember “Absolutely Right” being a minor hit after “Signs” in the States, but that was about it.

Incidentally, I highly recommend delving more deeply into Mojofilter02’s Youtube channel. Lots of goodies waiting to be unearthed. Current earworm: “Could You Ever Love Me Again” by Gary & Dave:

Yeah, totally “soft rock,” but the melody is totally infectious, the singing emotional in that way you just don’t hear on pop records anymore. This was apparently an honest-to-God #1 hit north of the border. And they’re from Charlottetown, P.E.I.!

Incidentally, are you doing Birthday-oke this year?
