I never made promises lightly: Most guardian angels don't find their ward by the age of twenty-nine, much less find one, lose her shortly after, and then find a new one a couple months later. This makes Grace all the more determined to do her job well this time around. Unfortunately, she hadn't counted on her ward being a complete idiot who can't be trusted to walk around the corner to the coffee shop on his own, much less do anything even marginally more dangerous. And on top of that, he had a guardian angel before, misses her very much, and didn't particularly want a new one. Their relationship is a complex one, and bound to lead to Grace contemplating murder-suicide more than once. Just a little. [Des

you can tell the sun in his jealous sky: Grace, though she has every reason not to, tends to get very close to people very quickly. She needs people, and likes people to need her, so when she clicks with someone, she's going to get attached to them right off the bat. She's a bit of a geek, and likes to be able to be a geek with people she likes. These are the people she spends her free time with, the people she gets to be completely herself with. Well, mostly completely herself. They are not the people Grace goes to for support, not the people she'll tell when she's hurting - she is more than happy to support and care for them, but that's the thing. She's a carer, and a protector, when it comes down to it, and she tends to see that as a one-way street. She cares for you. You let her care for you, and she'll take care of herself, really. Whether or not these people accept that system is up to them. [open]
I'm a dying breed who still believes: The people Grace will go to when she needs support, comfort, whatever. Shoulders she can cry on, people who can offer advice or assistance or beating her ward into some semblance of good behavior... These are her older sibling figures - not that she has any siblings, but that's not the point. Grace tends to take care of everyone around her - these are the people who take care of her. [Robin Rice

claim your soul is not for sale: Grace is used to having an authority figure around who expects a lot of her, pushes her to succeed... Not long ago, that was her father. Now it's been somewhat shifted to the person who helped her sort out what the hell was going on at one of the more chaotic parts of her life, the first angel Grace ever really met, the person who always seemed to know what was going on and offered Grace something to do with herself - Romana Angelos. Grace is probably always going to have some loyalty to Romana, and she respects her very much. She's sort of a surrogate parent, in a distant sort of way, and that could very easily lead to some tangled loyalties, considering her ward and some of the other people Grace has gotten close to. note to self: don't change for anyone: Grace? Not the most secure person in the world. She doesn't have huge, raging insecurities, but every now and then, she's placed in direct competition with someone and... well. The competition may be genuine, it may just be in her head, or it may be because people keep comparing her to someone else (not to mention any names...), but it definitely changes the way Grace reacts to these people. Around them, she'll tend to get quiet, or unnecessarily sarcastic, or even hostile - even when Grace knows it's petty and stupid and they might not necessarily deserve it, there are some emotional reactions she just can't get much control over. what married me to these orphan blues: Grace has developed this... habit of failing people lately. Her first ward. Her father. The military. Whatever. She makes commitments to people, and even though she tries her hardest, somehow lets them down, whether it's her duty or just an expectation or what. This is something that's probably going to continue, just because of the nature of the Rift, because of Grace's compulsive need to look after people and promise to take care of them even when she might not be able to keep those promises. These are the people she's going to fail, in one way or another, to a greater or lesser degree. [open, plotting (or at least an idea) necessary]
hunted by American dreams: Grace, for all her occasional insecurity, is not easily cowed, and she doesn't back down easily. But sometimes people just plain scare her, for one reason or another. They might be people who know about (or have found out about) her past, and hold that over her head - it wouldn't be hard to threaten her with the possibility of letting the military know where she's gone, for instance, or even just telling her father... They might be people who just intimidate her for one reason or another, who make her feel especially awkward. For whatever reason, they get under her skin, and she'll do her very best to stay away from these people, probably without much success. [open]
the hammer clicks in place: While she's mostly a caretaker, Grace does get up in arms about some things - mostly when she perceives anyone as a threat to those she cares about. While she's not really a warrior, she can be dangerous when she wants to be, just because she puts the safety of those she loves above her own and will do just about anything to make sure threats to them are eliminated. These are the people she decides are a threat - not just to her ward, although those will be her primary concern, but to anyone she cares about - and while she won't go out of her way to hunt them down, if they give her a reason, she will hurt them to protect her friends.
