AUTHORS NOTE: Hey People!!!!!! So here is the next chapter!!! I hope you guys enjoy it!!!

P.S. I looked up baby stuff for this chapter because I am 18 years old and I don’t really know about pregnancy stuff so I hope what I talk about is somewhat accurate. If I’m wrong about anything feel free to correct me.

P.S.S. I changed the name of Jensen and Jared’s neighbor in the previous chapter from Mr. Baker to Mr. Morgan because I want JDM to be in this story…so yeah I just wanted to let you all know.

Chapter 3. Date. Jensen’s Pov.

“I can’t do this Chris.” I say, dropping down onto the end of my bed. “I haven’t gone on a date in so long!”

“Jensen…”

“I mean what the hell was I thinking; I’m five months pregnant Chris, five months!”

“Son…”

“Why the fuck did I say yes to going out with Jared?”

+++++++++++Flashback to yesterday+++++++++++++++

“Hey Jensen.” Jared asks, standing at the counter waiting as I refill his coffee. “Um…I’ve got a question to ask you…” He trails off, looking nervous.

“Yeah?” I place the full mug of coffee down on the counter as I look into his eyes.

Jared has been coming to the coffee shop every day for the past week and a half; he drinks coffee while he works on his laptop and we talk a little. We talk about random things and he asks basic questions about the baby every time he’s here and I’m starting to feel comfortable around him, and it scares the shit out of me….The last person I warmed up to this fast was Matt, and look where that went.

“I know we haven’t known each other for very long…but I was wondering if you’d like to go out with me?” He stuffs his hands into his pockets. “Like on a date.”

“Jared…” I start, too shocked by the question to say anything else.

“I know I sound like a pubescent teenager.” He says with a chuckle. “But I like you dude, and I know that you like me to.”

“I don’t know Jared...” I trail off, dropping one of my hands down to my stomach when I feel the baby shift around.

“It doesn’t bother me that you’re pregnant Jensen--” I cut him off.

“Well it should; I mean for all you know I coud be one of those guys that sleeps with anything that walks.” Stupid fucking hormones controlling my motor skills!

“If that were true you wouldn’t love that child the way you do; I can see it in your eyes any time you talk about the baby, or right now.” He points to the hand currently rubbing circles into the side of my stomach. “I’m assuming that she’s moving right? Whenever you do that your eyes light up with joy.”

“You’ve been watching me a little too closely Jared.”

“You seem like a good person Jensen, please let me take you out on a date.” I’m about to say no when I look into his eyes and sigh.

“Yes.”

“JENSEN!” Chris yells from the doorway of my bedroom. “Calm down and listen to me.” He grabs the office chair from my desk along the wall and pulls it with him to sit down a few feet in front of me. “Jared seems like a nice guy; you deserve to be happy man.”

“I just broke up with Matt Chris, what if I’m moving on too quickly.”

“The guy fucking abandoned you because he didn’t want a baby; you deserve to be with someone who wants to make you happy.” He pinches the bridge of his nose. “God I’m sounding gay now.” He looks at me. “Give the kid a chance and have a good time.”

“Yeah well what the hell am I supposed to wear with this?” I ask, pointing to my stomach with both hands.

“Well what have you been wearing to work?”

“This is a date Chris; just because I’m going out with another guy doesn’t mean I don’t need to make an effort.” There’s a knock at the front door and I groan. “Fuck…”

“Calm down Jen; I’ll let him in and come back in here to tell you what he’s wearing.”

“I knew I kept you around for a reason.”

“Oh hardy har har.” He leaves the room and closes the door behind him. I push myself up from the bed and walk over to my closet and sigh, trying to come up with something that still fits me that happens to be stylish. Just as I grab a pair of light blue jeans to wear Chris walks into my room, closing the door behind him.

“What’s he wearing?” I ask, turning to face him.

“Jeans and a black button down shirt.” I nod.

“So do you think this is ok?” I ask, pulling out a grey t-shirt and a green plaid button down.

“Why are you asking me these things man?”

“Because if you don’t help me I’m gonna freak out even more.” I throw the shirts at him to hold while I pull on my pants. “Jesus what was I thinking?” Stupid fucking date. I pull the pants up the rest of the way and button them closed right under my stomach... I really need to go clothes shopping…again “God what am I doing trying to fit into something like this!”

“Jensen they look fine.” He throws the grey shirt at me. “I’m gonna go entertain your guest while you finish getting pretty.” He sets the plaid shirt on the desk.

“Fuck you man.” He flips me off before leaving the room.

I pull the grey shirt on quickly and walk over to my desk to grab the plaid shirt. I walk over to the mirror while messing with the shirt and a few seconds later I realize that I can’t button the thing; my stomach is too big. I look at my stomach in the mirror and sigh, I knew I was getting bigger but I didn’t really realize that my stomach has gotten this big….there is no denying that I look pregnant now…god how the hell does Jared even find me attractive?

“And that’s how I got him to agree to the name Kackles.” Chris says to a laughing Jared as I walk into the small living room of my apartment. Jared looks at me over Chris’s shoulder and smiles.

“Hey Jensen.” Chris steps out of Jared’s way as he takes a couple steps towards me. “You look great.” He says with a nervous smile on his face.

“Thanks, you do to.” We smile at each other for a moment before Chris breaks the silence.

“My god, you two sound like you’re teenagers or something.” Chris mumbles. “Well I’m gonna head out; I gotta make sure the new guy didn’t burn the café down.” I roll my eyes.

“Chris, Misha seems like a good guy; I highly doubt he’ll destroy the place.”

“We’ll soon see.” He gives us both a smile. “Have fun on your date.”

“We will.” Me and Jared say at the same time as Chris walks towards the door.

“Jared, remember what we talked about.” Chris says, lowering his voice slightly.

“I will.” Chris nods and walks out of my apartment.

“God what the hell did he tell you?” I ask with a groan, and Jared just smiles.

“Nothing important.” He claps his hands. “So are you ready to go?” I nod.

“Lead the way.” I say, gesturing towards the direction of the door.

When we walk outside he rushes towards the passenger side door of a red Ford truck with a sheepish smile.

“You’re chariot good sir.” I laugh, shaking my head.

“God you’re weird man.” His smile grows.

“Weird is my middle name dude.” I roll my eyes as I step up into his stuck, taking a breath as he closes the door to rush to the drivers side. As he hops into the truck I buckle my seatbelt, pulling at the bottom of it where it cuts into my stomach uncomfortably.

“You good?” he asks and I nod with a smile. He smiles back and starts the engine as he buckles in.

“So where are we going?” I ask a few minutes into the drive, breaking the awkward silence.

“Well first we’re going to that little Italian place on Michigan.” My mouth waters at the thought of Italian food.

“God you have no idea how much I love Italian food.” He chuckles.

“Um…actually I kind of asked Chris about places you liked and he said that you’ve been craving Italian food; I hope you don’t mind, I just wanted to make sure you enjoyed the night.” My heart warms at his words and I squeeze his hand that is resting on the bench seat between us.

“That was really sweet Jared.” He squeezes my hand back.

We drive the rest of the way to the restaurant talking about our favorite foods and about five minutes later Jared parks his truck right in front of the restaurant, Italian Paradise.

“Is this good or do you wanna go somewhere else?” Jared asks.

“No this is fine, I’ve never been here before.” He smiles and gets out of the truck, opening my door a moment later to help me out.

“Well neither have I so hopefully it’ll be awesome.” I open the restaurant door open for him and he gives me a grateful smile.

We walk up to the hostess who leads us to a table in the back, a nice somewhat private place for me and Jared to talk. We look through the menus, and while Jared is talking about what sounds good I’m trying to calm myself down. What if this date goes horribly? What if it’s all awkward? What if I embarrass myself? I don’t know why, but deep down I want to impress him…

“So what sounds good to you?” Jared asks, pulling me from my thoughts.

“Everything.” I say honestly and he laughs out loud.

“Yeah I know what you mean.” We sit their in silence for a few more minutes before the waiter comes to take our orders, Jared ordering Shrimp Marinara and me ordering Chicken con Michael.

“So…” I start off lamely. “Why did you move to LA?” I lean forward to grab a piece of bread from the basket.

“Well I’ve been working for this small publishing company for a couple years now.” He leans forward on his crossed arms. “They wanted to open up a branch here and they thought that I should be one of the heads of it.” My eyes widen.

“That’s pretty amazing for being twenty four.” I say, impressed. He smiles a little and nods.

“Yeah I never thought I would get a chance like this so young but hey, I’m not complaining.” I laugh a little at that. “And I was also sick of Texas you know?” I nod my head.

“Yeah I understand completely.”

“So what about you; why did you come to L.A.?” I rip off a piece of bread and dip it into the oil in the center of the table.

“Well after I graduated I didn’t wanna go back to Texas.” I start, eating the piece of bread in my hand. He uncrosses his arms and leans solely on his left, his right arm straightening out on the table.

“Wait where did you go to school?” he asks as I swallow.

“I went to California Culinary Academy in San Francisco.” His whistles.

“That’s pretty sweet.” I chuckle while looking deeply into his hazel eyes.

“Yeah, I got my love for baking there.” I take a sip of water. “I liked the fact that California was more open minded about stuff so I moved to L.A.”

“So how did Kackles come into being?” He asks.

“Well I started working at a French restaurant as a pastry chef and I realized that I hated it.” He nods. “I always loved the café atmosphere so…” I trail off, not knowing what else to say.

“How did Chris get involved?” I feel something brush along my hand and I look down t see Jared’s fingers on my hand. I smile a little and move my hand closer to him.

“Well I’ve known Chris pretty much all my life and he’s always loved music.” He entwines his fingers with mine and my heart skips a beat. “I thought it would be kind of cool if the Café had a music theme and he loved the idea.” I eat another piece of bread. “So on Wednesday nights his band plays at nine and he finds a local band to play every Friday.”

“Chris is in a band?” he asks and I nod, looking down as his thumb rubs my knuckles lightly.

“Yeah him and his friend Steve started Kane a few years back; they just got done with a tour last month and they’re gonna be going again next April.” He looks impressed. “So tell me more about what you do; what’s it like working for a publishing company?”

“Well I started out as an editor, but now that I’m one of the heads for this branch I also meet with authors about their books.”

“Do you do any writing yourself?” He nods.

“I’m actually working on something right now and if I keep working on it at a steady pace it should be published next year.”

“That’s awesome Jared; can you talk about what you’re working on or is it secret?” He smiles.

“It’s a book about two brothers who fight supernatural creatures.”

“That sounds really cool dude.” He laughs.

“Thanks; I’m hoping that it’ll be a series like the Harry Potter books or something.”

“What type of supernatural creatures are gonna be in it?”

“Well so far there are demons and ghosts but I’m gonna do some research; I think it would be really cool if my creatures were based off of real urban legends and folk lore’s.” I’m about to reply when the waiter comes with our food. We pull our hands out of each others grasp as he sets our food in front of us.

“Do you two need anything else?” The waiter, whose name tag says Ryan, asks after he grinds some romano cheese onto our pasta dishes.

“I think we’re all set.” Jared says with a kind smile. “Jensen?”

“I’m good.” I say.

“Well let me know if you two need anything.” Ryan walks over to another table and Jared looks at me.

“Well hopefully this will satisfy your cravings.” I laugh as we dig in, and I can’t help but moan as I take my first bite. “Good?” he asks and I nod.

“Do you want to try some?”

“Sure.” He reaches his fork over and takes a small amount of pasta with chicken. “Mmm that is good.” He says with his full mouth and swallows. “Do you want some of mine?” he asks and I shake my head sadly.

“It looks really good but I can’t.” he cocks his head to the side.

“Why?”

“My doctor said that it’s not good to eat fish while pregnant.”

“Oh yeah I forgot about that; my sister in law couldn’t have fish when she was pregnant either. God I feel like a jerk now for getting something that you can’t have.” He says, looking upset. My heart warms a little bit.

“I really don’t care Jared, I’m glad that you really like it though.” I take another bite of my food.

“You sure?” I smile.

“Positive.” He smiles back and eats a piece of shrimp.

“Well since we’re on the topic, how is everything in baby land?” My smile widens and I place my left hand on my stomach. This is one of the things I really like about Jared, he’s comfortable talking about my baby. Matt, who is the father of this child, couldn’t even stand the idea of having a child but Jared likes talking about it…how did I get this lucky?

“Good.” I take another bite of my food and swallow it quickly. “She’s moving a lot lately though.” His eyes brighten.

“Is she kicking yet?” He asks.

“Kind of? It’s never anything really hard, just subtle thumps.” He nods.

“I bet it will be really cool when she starts kicking for real.” I chuckle.

“Yes; it’ll be awesome when she’s keeping me awake in the middle of the night when I’m trying to sleep.”

While we eat the rest of our dinner our topics of discussion go from the baby to where we went to high school, and our siblings and our home towns; just light hearted conversation as we finish up the delicious meal.

“So are you up to walking a little bit or do you want me to drive us to our next destination?” Jared asks as we walk out of the restaurant, satisfied with how our meals tasted.

“I think I could walk.” I say with a grin.

“Well let me know if you need to sit down for any reason.” I nod.

We walk four blocks to a frozen yogurt parlor for desert, and he refuses to let me pay for the frozen desert much like when I offered to chip in for the Italian dinner.

“I asked you out on this date, let me pay for stuff.” I roll my eyes.

“So you know how to make all sorts of pastries right?” Jared asks as we walk through a park eating our yogurt. I nod with a spoonful of chocolate awesomeness in my mouth. “Then why don’t you make pastry stuff at the Café?”

“I do once in a while, but people seem to like my cookies better.”

“Those are awesome cookies.” I shake my head in amusement.

“Is there any food you don’t like?”

“I hate mango.” I nod.

“I make pastries for a bakery a block away from our apartment building. Jeff Morgan owns it and he asked if I could whip up some pastries for him to sell and I said yes.”

“You must be a busy man.” Jared says through a mouth full of strawberry frozen yogurt.

“They change their menu daily so they only use my pastries on Mondays, and I get half of the money they make on my stuff so it’s all good.” I see a bench about twenty feet ahead of us. “Hey could we sit down for a moment?” Jared nods vigorously.

“Yeah of course.” We walk over to the bench and I bring myself down, sighing in relief at giving my swollen ankles a rest. “Are you ok?” he asks worriedly.

“Yeah I just needed a break.” I go to take another bite of my yogurt when I feel something jab me from the inside; hard. I gasp and drop my right hand down to my stomach.

“Jensen?” Jared turns his body so he’s facing me, panic written all over his face.

“She…she just kicked.” I say; shocked, and his eyes widen.

“Really?!?” I nod my head with a big smile.

“Do you wanna feel?” I ask as I feel a second kick on the right side of my stomach.

“Hell yeah.” I set my frozen yogurt onto the bench beside me and I grab onto his hand and place it on the spot where I felt the last two kicks.

“Just wait a moment..” A few seconds later there is another kick and Jared smiles.

“That’s amazing!” he looks at me for a moment before saying quietly. “You’re amazing.”

“Jared--” he cuts me off by cupping my cheek and kissing my lips. His touch feels…amazing…it feels right. He pulls away a moment later a whispers.

“What were you going to say?” I look into his eyes.

“I was gonna say that you’re pretty amazing to.”

Yeah…I made the right choice by saying yes.

End of chapter!!!!! I hope you guys liked it!!!!
