I'd like to begin posting some of the things I see at work.
And some of the things I FEEL as a nurse.  I want them recorded here, for me.  So some might be gross or disturbing to you, or just incoherent with nursing jargon but there should always be a point to the telling of the interaction.  Granted most of them will probably be my growth as a ( Read more... )

OMG!!! ROTFL!!! I haven't even read your comment yet, but I quickly noticed that I wrote mistakenly, "I found you on a nurse." AHAHAH!! I was going to write on a nursing LJ... but my niece called from New York and I got distracted and came back to it. I wanted to hurry and get it out to you before I fall asleep sitting here. LOL!!
WELL!!! If I ever find you "on a nurse", I think I'd be quite jealous.
LOL

My grandfather had some stones that because untreated ruptured his gall bladder and then his intestines. When he went to the hospital in Madrid complaining of intense abdominal pain they sent him home. Can you imagine that?! He called family to say his goodbyes because he was positive he would die. An ocean away I felt so desolate and helpless after his call. However some family in another region drove the 7 hours to pick him up and took him to a hospital in Lugo. There they told him he needed emergency surgery. They had to take everything out (intestines mostly) clean it and replace it. Apparently he had begun to develop gangrene in some parts. He said it was the most pain he had ever been in. I can't even imagine. I'd like to think that someone in the ICU took the kind of time you did to reassure him.

Thank you for sharing your soul with us Maura.

Well thank you, my dear. I'm so sorry that he suffered like that, and with you all worried and unable to fix him.
There was much more to this story, but I really didn't want to draw it out. I'm sure it's the same for you- more to the story.
I hope he healed well and had many more healthy years!
I'm glad you're reading, and thank you so very much for the sweet comment. I hope you are well, and happy, and in love and having a wonderful week!
