I wish all April Fool's jokes were a lovely as your was. I traveled there with you in my mind and yes, it is now possible that when my children are grown I will go there and you will be there! We'll fill our pockets with lavender and wool together! Want to?
Your joke was a lot more enjoyable than the one my husband and kids pulled on me last night. They called and said they were at PetSmart and had adopted a German Shepherd puppy named Ashley who was almost house-broken. NOT funny!
You know, it felt like a very far-off dream, cloaked in mist and shadow, until I started really thinking about it. Now it feels like it's really going to happen. And I promise I'll share it ~
Wow. I be jealous of you! Australia and Tasmania? That would be an amazing, amazing, amazing trip. I really hope you are able to go and follow that dream. I think it would be so amazing for you.
I missed your April Fools post but we all need to dream...you are only old when regrets take the place of dreams and baby, I'm dreaming!
My husband has relatives in Australia and at one point when the kids were little, he decided that we should immigrate to New Zealand, so I got all the info, filled out the forms, mailed them off to the embassy, wrote to local newspapers for their subscription rates etc ... but I should have known that he would never leave these Green Mountains, which was also the reason why we sold the farm(200 acres)in Beachburg, Ontario and came back to Vermont *sigh*
I say GO FOR IT and make the dream a reality ... even if it's only for a month or two!
Do you miss the farm in Beachburg? I think that's about 100 kilometres northeast of our cottage.
A month or two would be perfect ~ that'd be plenty of time to see koalas, kangaroos, lavender, the Southern Cross, and lots of other cool sights down under.
Yup, I fell in love with the place and cried all the way back to Vermont. In front of the house was the largest lilac bush I had ever seen, it was more like a huge lilac tree...it must have been 5 feet across and about 6 feet tall as it reached to the top of the porch. The barns were in perfect condition and there even was a blacksmith shop. I have one of the large hand forged latches hanging on my living room wall.
You're the first person I've ever talked to who knew where Beachburg was! Where is your cottage, more toward Pembrooke and North Bay or back toward Ottawa?
