The whole story was very poignant-it's always a heartbreak when one person wants love and the other thinks they're just "fuckbuddies",and while I think Cliff might've had other feelings he didn't want to acknowledge(he did call back after all)it was obvious poor C.J. was not going to get what he wanted.
The last two lines really got me.
Now I want to find CJ and hug him!

I kind of grew to like the Phillies and Rangers during the postseason, in the way that never would have happened had they beaten us. But for now, I feel magnanimous enough, especially toward the Phillies, so now I'm hoping for a sequel starring Cliff Lee and his new (old?) Phillies fuckbuddy. (Or possibly something really soapy involving the drama of the new Phillies rotation. Earned Runs and Eastern Suns? Cliff Lee returns to Philly only to find that Halladay has taken Hamels from him. Drama ensues. Hamels calls former teammates Burrell and Rowand for advice. Crossover catfight ensues. Shmoopy ending.)

I'll tell you something: I've learned I don't write the long, multi-chapter stuff very well. I get tired of the premise and it's a marathon just to get it done. So I doubt we'll see Eastern Suns anytime soon. I'm just much better suited for standalones. But the action could play out through those stories.
