Maybe it was the sheer force of Flint's will, but the tainted coffee didn't seem to have any ill effect on him... at first. The most he noticed was that it tasted damn funny, so much that he didn't even bother finishing the cup. Lousy city coffee.
But! He had a lot of work to do so he shrugged it off and headed outside. Gee, that's odd, the hallway seemed a lot longer today. Or maybe he was just walking a little slower. That's odd, how could he be so sluggish after a full night's sleep? Well, no matter, maybe once he got moving he'd wake up.
And then the door he walked past turned into a giant mouth.
Well.
Then.
Flint backed away slowly, turned, and continued walking down the hall. He was just seeing things. Yeah. Those floating skulls weren't really there. Neither was that flock of sheep that just ran past him. Maybe he hadn't woken up at all, and he was just having one of those dreams where you dream that you woke up and went about your day. Yeah, that was it. Just a dream.
And she walked through the door at the end of the hallway. Suddenly, Flint didn't want it to be a dream.
"Hinawa!" Suddenly, getting to her was the most important thing in the world, and Flint started running. He tried to run as fast as he could, but his legs still refused to cooperate. He ended up stumbling to the ground as his legs stopped working completely, so he dragged himself along with his arms instead.
Hinawa spotted him and gave him a warm smile, then she slipped outside again.
"Hinawa, wait!" He pleaded as she disappeared. He pulled himself up (as his legs were working again, strangely enough) and ran for the door.
He had to find her. He had to find Hinawa. She was here.
((EVERYONE IS HINAWA. just fyi.))
