Squall sat just outside the realm of Radiant Garden, his gun blade close at hand. He twisted a little to un-kink his back and hissed at the feeling of pain threading through him. Sure it was kind of dangerous to be out by himself after Sephiroth’s latest stunt to get Cloud’s attention, but he just needed space. One hand was splayed on the soft cushioned part on a large green plant, though occasionally he would finger one of the long thin like thorns sticking out from the plant.
Squall did not like the feeling of helplessness, he like even less the feeling of hopelessness. Sephiroth had made him feel both those emotions in a easy second, painful reminders decorating his body. He twitched when he absently stretched one of the reminders. Squall appreciated what his partner had been doing for him, especially when he guarded him in his sleep while he cried silently from the horrors inflicted on his mind. Sephiroth did not immediately go straight for flaying him alive, no he had attacked him mentally.
Squall never thought he was one for giving up, but the one man shatter a lot of self-proclaimed defenses. He wondered if this relationship would endure, as his track record wasn’t all that great. Though Cloud didn’t say it, it was straining on their relationship, Squall could see it. Absently he leaned against the large plant and immediately retracted, he had caused himself pain.
Narrowing his steel-blue eyes he gazed at the tall plant. It was a cactus, a rather large one which meant it had been here for many years. Squall was surprise to find one so tall, especially in this period of war and death. Then again this plant was known for pushing through the harshest of conditions. "Hmm, endurance." He muttered and recoiled back into his self.
The only thing Squall could possibly do was endure, and hopefully he would be able to push forward.
