Just a Day
Their life fell into routine again, a strained routine but a routine none the less. The only sound heard in the small house was the quiet breathing of the two of them. They laid side by side, staring out the vast window that spanned the left wall. Sure, every morning they would spar together, and then retreat back to the house. Sometimes they would choose an outdoor activity or go out to eat, but most of the time they just retreated to home.
The pair studied their quiet breathing, almost in rhythm, except one was a tiny bit faster. Soon it became a competition before it became repetitive again. Strands of chocolate mixed with the canary cream of the other, a beautiful combination of a confection. Sunlight slipped in dancing on the oddly colored gems of eyes, and warmed the twined hands of the pair. Perhaps it was lunch time when one of them moved, but it was only to roll on their side drawing closer to their partner. Then soft snores littered the small house, and the sun hit a quaint table in the living room. Upon it was a glass vase with a few dark purple flowers proudly displayed within it. The violets retreating into the shadow of the sun, giving off the air of a simple life, much like their meaning of simplicity.
Twin smiles etched the faces of the pair, without the fighting that’s all their home life was, simplicity.
