Memories
Leon never considered himself a tough guy. Sure he was physically impressive, and you were hard press to land a hit on him with his speed, but he never considered himself tough. Gazing at the silvery blue depths, a breath of a sigh left his lips. He had mourned his world long enough, and those he had lost should not dictate his actions. Yet, he couldn’t help it, losing the first person you cared deeply about is a scar that last forever. His long chocolate locks danced in the slight breeze that now blew in Radiant Garden. He screamed pensive behavior and sorrow, what would combat such a thing. Raking a black-gloved hand through his hair he freed his blue eyes from shadow. Solid footsteps behind him identified a person, but he didn’t need to turn, there was only one other that walked like he did.

"Squall." A voice called and that clenched it, only one person still calls him that when he is isolated. Well beside Yuffie, but she’s starting to remember to call him Leon. She only forgets when she is really excited or it’s something important. Leon only allowed one to call him his true name, as he could identify with him.

"Cloud." Leon spoke back, and shifted his vision from the chasms to the blond-haired mercenary. Leon grinned bitterly as he saw the blond hair that was spike flop into eyes that were unique. Yes, they were naturally the same blue as his, but Leon didn’t have a green glow to his. Cloud grunted lightly and walked up beside him looking into the chasms as well. Silently he let a tan hand come from beneath his jagged red cloak and hold something up to him. Leon smiled in thanks and turned back to the chasms clutching the gift. No thanks was imparted, but it was implied, Cloud and Leon didn’t need words.

Glancing back down at the delicate blossom in his hands he smirked. Who knew such a tough, quiet, mercenary knew anything about flowers, but then again Leon knew where that knowledge came from. Aerith, Cloud’s closest friend that he described as his light and once been slain in his world. The blond mercenary was surprised then when he arrived in this world to find Aerith alive and well. Aerith had been a caretaker of flowers and with the little time they had spent together imparted the wisdom to Cloud. Cloud doesn’t admit to this knowledge openly, but he was the one you could turn to if you were male anyway.

His fingers curled reminding him of the gift, he glanced at the flower. It was a pretty flower, if he could say that without sounding effeminate. A rainbow of colors greeted his eyes and he agreed that this flower belonged in Radiant Garden. The very center of the flower had varying shades of dark red, magenta, and maroon. It had a slide of dark yellow and light prism yellow that buffered the center. They very tips of the petals were covered in either pink, purplish-pink, purple, or bluish-purple. Leon found it a very appealing flower, and his eyes slid to his companion. He found Cloud’s eyes on him who nodded to him.

Leon looked down into the chasm, he and Cloud were the two sides of a coin. Physical different, but still the same definition of a person. They both carried the weight of failing to protect their worlds and precious people. Their core personalities were strong, quiet, subconscious leaders, valiant, and loners. They drew different groups of people to them, but in the end they preferred their own company. Looking deep into his self he reached the same conclusion he always did, and he gave a small nod back to Cloud.

Turning his full attention back to the chasm, he raised his hand that gripped the flower. "It’s a pansy." Cloud broke in and Leon smiled at it in thanks. Then he flicked his wrist and let the pansy fly into the chasm. Remembering who it was he was mourning, he gave a small smile.

"Good-bye Rinoa." He said and the flower of remembrance drifted out of sight. Giving a small smile of remembrance of happier times, he did not notice his hand gripping Cloud’s in thanks. Nor did he notice when they walked off together their hands still clasped.

FIN.
