Author: Icy
Pairing: Robin/Raven
Fandom: Teen Titans

Disclaimer: Teen Titans is ® DC Comics. No disrespect intended.
Author’s Note: These are taking place when the titans are, well, titans… Meaning that (for example) Raven will be Raven instead of Rachel Roth. Unless otherwise mentioned.
These aren’t going to form a story, but they won’t be drabbles, either. Just free-standing.
This one is, well… it’ll be obvious from the first few lines! These moments are always awkward, anyways =) I hope you enjoy it!

List of Kisses

(He found her in the kitchen, preparing a mug of tea, and said quietly, with a small smile on his face that was blatantly evident in his voice, “Here, pour me a mug too.”

He noticed her soft form stiffen, but she made no indication that she’d heard him, so he reached around her for a mug. He didn’t plan for his finger to brush hers as he placed his mug on the counter next to hers, but the smile that reached his lips the moment it happened vanished as she dropped her own mug, and it shattered on the floor. He noticed her hands visibly shaking as she placed the thermos back on the counter and bent to manually collect the ceramic pieces, and he then noticed she hadn’t yet once met his eyes all morning. “Raven?” But she was silent, collecting the last of the shards and then turning to dispose them. “Raven,” he paused and, as she retrieved a new mug for herself and poured two cups with shaking hands, “Raven, are you alright?”

She set the thermos down and left his steaming mug on the counter; hers, she sipped with her back to him, and then set down on the coffee table. Still, she didn’t respond. He left this untouched mug and took a few tentative steps, noticing her vacant position, stopped by the edge of the table, her hands resting unoccupied on the surface, with her tea out of harm’s way. “Raven,” he tried again, but she was unresponsive. Cautiously, he reached a hand out and touched her shoulder.

Her response, naturally, was instantaneous. It wasn’t what he was expecting; a blast of dark energy surrounding the chairs and causing them to float, just as surely as he was floating, utterly helpless; and she, he noticed, was surrounded by black energy, although hers acted as a defensive shell, and his acted as a prison of sorts, for he wasn’t able to move hardly.

“Raven!” Robin’s voice was mildly alarmed, not because he thought she would hurt him-although she certainly could if she wanted-but because she was acting so oddly this morning. Her pupils had vanished, and he could just make out the faint outline of her eyes, as black as the rest of her, obscured behind a wall of dark energy.

“What’s wrong?” He was almost desperate at this point, not just because he was hanging suspended in midair, but because she wasn’t even answering him, and they’d been together for a few months by his count. “Let me down. Talk to me.”

Realization seemed to flood into her, for she inhaled sharply, and he dropped to the floor, half-stunned. She finally met his eyes, but it was a frightened look. He approached with caution, careful not to touch her. “Raven, why are you being so…” He paused, and she was avoiding his eyes again. “Is this because of last night…?”

She still didn’t answer, but her eyes darted back up to his for a brief moment and he knew she was right. “What’s wrong? Isn’t it what you wanted?” He raised an eyebrow. “You were just as willing as I was, I know. Did I,” and he paused again, now feeling guilty that he hadn’t asked before, “hurt you?”

She looked really, truly frightened now. “No,” she replied in a small voice. “It was everything-everything it should have been,” she said softly. “I just…”

“-don’t know how to act around me now,” he finished, smiling fondly again, because he had never imagined she could be rendered uncertain-that he could be the one rendering her uncertain.

“Just like we used to, Raven,” he said softly, and smiled as, in unison, their lips met.)
