Title: Our Trip To There
Author: Icy
Pairing: Harry/Hermione
Fandom: Harry Potter
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: Harry Potter and the world of is ® Warner Bros and J. K. Rowling. No disrespect intended.
Author’s Note: These will connect to form a story, hopefully in chronological order.
The story begins with the end of Year 6. If I don’t get finished by the time Book 7 comes out… Oh well!
Thanks to KissesMods for granting me an extension. I’m ashamed to say that this chapter will be pathetically short even with the extension. NOT BETA’D.
And this story is just… not working for me. I can’t help but dislike it.

(Harry was disappointed when he learned, after dinner, that they would be doing a great deal of walking to get to the portkey, and once the portkey dropped them off near their destination. Throughout the meal, he’d absorbed himself in a discussion with Lupin so that he didn’t have to think about Hermione and Ron, much less pay attention to them. Now, though, he was rapidly losing any excuse he might be able to come up with.

As their small group of Order members-- all under disillusionment charms-set out, Harry positioned himself near the edge of the group, silently following Lupin’s lead. He was under his invisibility cloak, and was feeling blessed by the solace it gave him. There were whispered conversations taking place, but Harry remained alone in his thoughts, simply pondering the kiss he had witnessed before dinner.

Hadn’t he just broken up with Ginny? It’s not like he’d done it for Hermione’s sake, but still-he’d done it partly because of his interest in her, even if the majority of the reason was actually because he couldn’t in conscience continue to see somebody he thought of as his sister. But a small reason had been Hermione-and then she thought it suitable to kiss Ron, though she’d said that she would tell him as well that she no longer held interest?

Mid-stride, Lupin spoke quietly. “Come closer, everybody. We’re here.”

Harry mentally cursed his luck and removed the cloak; he could very faintly make out a few of the others’ forms, when they shifted. Lupin held out a discarded tire. “Get ready. We have a minute and a half.”

Harry placed his hand on the tire and glanced around the trees; he could feel the others’ hands on the tire, somebody brushing against him, some whispered murmuring. He looked up at where he assumed Lupin was, but before he could say anything, a hook jerked behind his navel and he was transported away in a whirl of color.

“Everybody can remove their charms,” Lupin said quietly. “We won’t be in danger where we’re traveling.”

Harry glanced around. It was hard to tell in the darkness, but it appeared that they were in an alley between two buildings, in a city. Regretfully he bundled up his cloak as the others became visible once more, before setting off.

Partway through the walk, Hermione approached him. Harry had both feared and predicted this. “Harry,” she whispered. “You’ve been silent this whole trip. Are you all right?”

“No,” he whispered back, mildly amused at the honesty of that answer.

“Why are we going on this one again?” She asked, wide-eyed.

“Because Snape is our closest link to Voldemort. Whatever hope we have left, we can use Snape to get to Voldemort.” Harry glanced at her, and she fell silent.

After a long, enduring pause, she finally said, “So… um… let’s talk about something else.”

Harry glanced at her again. “What?”

“Well… you’ve broken it with Ginny… I was just thinking about that, that’s all.”

Harry shook his head dangerously. “I guess everybody’s talking about that now, huh.”

Hermione licked her lips. “Well, not as much as you think. I’ve been-“

“Busy kissing Ron while I go and break things off with Ginny? I know,” he interrupted, glaring into her brown eyes coldly before turning away. She’d obviously been going to say something else, but he didn’t care. Blood was pounding in his ears and he strode away quickly, leaving Hermione frozen to the spot until she regained her senses and continued to walk with the rest of the group, troubled and confused and this time being the one to sink into thought.)
