Sometimes, Elliot felt completely lost. Not a confused sort of lost: instead, he felt the hopeless, choking darkness that came from his job. All day, every day, seeing people raped an d murdered… it got to him. He wondered if there was any good left in people.

And his answer always came in the form of Doctor George Huang. The man was endlessly compassionate. He was the only one Elliot truly felt safe talking to about anything.

He sat in one of his hopeless states. The victim had been a child, raped and murdered. It made him want to cry, it made him want to throw up, it made him want to hand in his badge and walk out the door. He sat on the sofa, shaking with silent tears.

And then George walked in. He took one look at Elliot before kissing him passionately, softly, comfortably.

“What is it?” He asked as he pulled away.

“A case… there was a child.” He ended with a sob, and looked up, still fully expecting to see judgment there despite his knowledge that this wouldn’t be the case.

“Elliot, I’m sorry. That’s awful.” George whispered. He leaned up and kissed him again. Elliot closed his eyes, welcoming the human contact.

“Doc… you always manage to find me in the darkness.” Elliot whispered.

“How do you mean?” George asked.

“You always manage to make me feel ok.” Elliot responded. George stroked his face gently.

“Because I love you.” George replied. Elliot rested his chin on George’s head.

George always helped him feel better.
