If Hinata Wouldn't then Sakura Would

Sakura Haruno has had enough, she cast a scattering glare at the assembled group before growling. "Be sure to give him a kiss for me!" Ino’s voice rang out as Sakura exited gracefully from the restaurant. The rookies had grown to become unconquerable friends, excluding Sasuke Uchiha of course, and as such they felt extremely comfortable with each other. However, that didn’t give them the right to imply that she felt anything beyond simple friendship for the rising star that was Uzumaki Naruto. Make no mistake, Sakura cared for her blond teammate more so now then ever before, and could have his heart if she desired it. However, she was not blind, the Hyuuga girl would treat her friend well and Hinata deserved it, now if only the two of them would see.

Sakura glanced up to see Naruto strolling down the streets of Konoha, his jounin vest impeccable and his grin proud. She ignored the twinged that echoed within her as she saw the blue-eyed blond grin welcoming toward her. "Hi Sakura." As he grew so did his foolish notions for tacking chan onto her name. She missed it a little though, but refuse to call him Naruto-kun in jest either.

"Hey Naruto." She greeted back, giving the tall blond a hug. Sakura was proud of the boy, keeping any iota of perversion that he may have gain from his teacher far from the surface of his personality. She ignored the fact that her head just brushed his shoulder in a delightful and comforting hold, but Sakura wouldn’t give it light. "So how is Tsunade-sama treating you?" She inquired, her sharp eyes staking out for a certain dark haired female that was sure to be around.

"You know baa-chan, those A-rank and S-rank missions are a killer." He muffled into her hair before stepping out of her hug. Sakura merely shook her head at his addressing to their superior. He would never change, and Sakura liked him for it, her eyes finally caught the red Hyuuga beyond stall poll. "So Sakura shall we have lunch?" His baritone swam over her and she blinked back to the conversation. Sakura did feel the stirs of hunger for she did leave lunch early because of the teasing of the rookies.

"Yeah." She agreed, notoriously aware of the pale eyes that watched them, and the hole the burned in the back of her neck. Sakura’s mind began to formulate a plan, one that would force the Hyuuga to react and if not well..Sakura didn’t find Naruto all that bad.

Lunch started off with the easy chatter between two people who have known each other for quite sometime, though they avoided the Sasuke topic like the plague. Sakura of course steered the conversation easily, her inner self reviewing all that makes Naruto who he was, and she smiled absently. Finally Naruto took his predetermine break in his speech and Sakura leaned forward invading his space. She felt the chakra flare before it was stuffed back down, and there had been an angry flash of white.

"Uh, Sakura?" Naruto’s voice quivered with wariness.

"What?" Her voice ghosted over him, and his eyes twitched with nervousness. Sakura could feel Hinata’s gaze burn behind her, the shorter girl asking what she was doing with her eyes. Hey, Naruto was a heck of catch for those who could tame him, and beside’s Hinata she was the other one. She inched closer watching as Naruto fidget and his hands twisted on his pants revealing control over base instinct. Her right hand which hid a white napkin came up as if to cup his cheek, and her hair made a curtain obscuring their faces. Naruto’s eyes widen in surprise before it narrowed in shock as Sakura just brushed off some of his meal from his cheeks. "You’re such a messy eater Naruto." She whispered, and Naruto frowned.

"That was a dirty trick Haruno." Hinata’s voice was behind her, and Naruto glanced up to see the other girl. Sensing something that dealt with him and yet not, he retreated from the pair.

"Well, it’s not like you were going to do anything." Sakura chimed still staring away from Hinata and toward Naruto.

"That was so funny." Well that had to be the first time Sakura had ever heard a Hyuuga growl with sarcasm.

"Then do something about it, or I will." Sakura warned and then she was gone following the path set by the blond jounin. Hinata recoiled before her lips twitched, her mind drawing inspiration from an old memory of Naruto. Sakura was going to wake up with a bad hair day tomorrow.

Sakura’s morning felt off as she yawned and stretched out, her eyes subconsciously falling on Team 7's picture. She smiled as she realized how close they all were except of course Sasuke’s whose aura then was untouchable. "Good morning." She greeted to the picture as if the group could hear her where ever they were. Slipping from her bed she made her way to the bathroom and turned on the shower. Several minutes later her scream was heard all through out Konoha.

"Hinata this wasn’t funny!" Sakura yelled while she looked over her once bubble gum locks. Well, at least the color kind of matched her eyes. Sakura knew it was the other girl and not Naruto because he always left a calling card, and he would never dare prank her... "Hinata this means war." She swore and swiped at the steam that was clouding the bathroom mirror.
