Summary: Sakura can't stand it when Syaoran has to leave. Finally, he decides to do something about it.
He was leaving again tomorrow, so we were making an all-nighter of it. It had become a tradition a few years ago, since his visits were few and far-between and it was never enough time to be together.
We were sitting on my couch, pressed together like no one could separate us, not my family or his family or magic or anything. I had my arms around his waist and my hands under his shirt, pressed to his skin like I could keep him here, and my head on his chest, listening to the heart that beats for me.
"I don't want to leave you again," he said, stroking my hair, and the thought made me shudder and my tears began to wet his shirt.
"Ssh," I said shakily, trying to hold onto the comfortable silence we had been sharing. We had been sitting quietly for almost an hour, half-asleep. It was about three-thirty and in an hour or so he would have to get up and get ready to leave for the airport. I wanted to hold him until then.
"Marry me," he said in a dreamy voice, and I almost said "ssh" again, but then I lifted my head and looked at him, surprised. He repeated it and a smile spread across his face, as though he had just had a brilliant idea.
"What?" I said after a moment, and he lifted my chin with a finger and kissed me softly.
"Marry me," he said again, "and come back with me to Hong Kong, so I will never have to leave you again."
I nodded and felt my tears began to fall faster. Undaunted, he kissed them all away until I buried my face in his shirt and sobbed in earnest.
There might not be a ring, and he wasn't on his knees, but he would never leave me again. I would never have to wake up alone again. There would be the two of us together always. It was a moment like this that made all the pain and sorrow and loneliness worth it.
"Why are you crying?" he asked me after a while, stroking my hair softly at the nape of my neck. I found breath to speak after a moment.
"Because I'm happy!" I said, and he nodded and picked up the phone.
"Want to see if we can get another ticket to Hong Kong on such short notice?" he asked, and I smiled.
He was leaving in the morning, so we were making an all-nighter of it. After all, plane tickets would be hard to find and I still had to pack, didn't I?
