I'm loneliest at night.
Night was when we captured cards and fought Eriol. Night held such wonderful surprises, festivals and plays and my name on his lips.
The night makes me lonely. I lay in bed quietly, so as not to wake Kero, and I miss him. When I close my eyes I can see his face, distressed to be leaving, so I don't close my eyes much.
Some nights I cry what feels like an ocean's worth of tears, and that's even more upsetting-- more water to flow between us, to keep us apart. Some nights I want to swim the distance between Tomoeda and Hong Kong, just to see him smile.
He said he would come back as soon as he can, and in the dark times of the night, I remember his words and press them close to me, drink my memories in again and pray for his return.
Clow did not predict this, and that sometimes makes me anxious. He made no provision for this relationship, and that might make things hard.
The day is darkest before the dawn, and that is often when I drift off to sleep. I always have to remember, to taste the truth on my lips along with the salt of tears. Everything is going to be all right, everything is going to be all right.
I am loneliest at night, because that is when I miss Syaoran the most.
