my aunt used to threaten to pour Tabasco sauce on my cousin's fingers if she wouldnt stop biting her nails. i witnessed her do this once. i cried with my cousin, and stopped chewing mine down to nubs immediately.

well i grow my nails a little on the long side and keep them manicured and all, but eventually the bf complains because i start using them as weapons whenever we're wrestling and just generally fucking around to see who can scream out in pain first. so it never fails: as soon as i cut them down and file them, i am immediately drawn to my cuticles, even when they're not dry and flakey/peeling.

it's not like i'm tearing them apart though. just kinda digging at them without breaking the skin.

maybe if you apply a thick cream to your cuticles it would help.
